I originally put this together because my new-to-me xfive wasn't shooting reliably (firing pin safety lever was out of spec), so I threw the slide on a p226x frame. It's been perfect for about 8k rounds of 147 and 124gr reloads at about 130pf. The 3dPrintedGunGear magwell works great with TTI extensions, the standard DASA trigger was adjusted to my liking and is plenty fast for me, and the gun just works well when I do my part.
TL;DR the RXM in this configuration is a fantastic setup. Super fast reloads, fast followup shots, and solid reliability. It's a better option than a stock gen5 Glock 45, but it holds up well against modified Glocks.
I got this Gunsite Glock 45 from my friend. It's been cut for the 509t, has a Wilson Combat connector, a Kyral back strap to soften the angle, and my frame work (undercuts, laser stippling, inlaid silicon carbide back strap, 3d printed grip plug).
The RXM started as the compact, then I got the full size grip not too long ago. It too has a Wilson Combat connector, a Ballistic Advantage barrel to get rid of the loaded chamber cut, and runs an RMR.
Ergonomics: I prefer how the glock feels as I modified to my hands and style, but the RXM feels nice, minus the angles just forward of the side panels. The smaller mag release of the RXM isn't an issue for me.
Reloads: the G45 with the flared magwell and grip plug made for very smooth and reliable reloads. The RXM felt a little more forgiving and didn't require any modifications, so it takes the win here.
Shooting experience: glock triggers aside, I was getting consistent 75% a and 25% c zone hits at 30 yards and averaging 0.25s splits. At 7 yards, 0.13-0.15s splits into the a zone were easy with both guns. The difference for me was how the guns recoiled. The RXM traveled a nice 12/6 oclock path, where the G45 traveled along a 1/7oclock path. While the paths differed, the return to zero of both were very similar, but the G45 was slightly slower, resulting in 2/50 shots hitting just high and right into the c zone.
Reliability: Glock reliability can't be argued. The RXM has ticked off north of 5k rounds with lubrication only, 2k with 124gr Belom and Igman, 3k of my 147gr 130pf reloads. I cleaned it today and found no major areas of interest. It's been just fine, with just a touch of carbon behind the extractor claw and on the face of the barrel where the Glock does as well. The barrel shows standard wear, slide shows nothing appreciable, frame also shows nothing of note.
Final thought: the RXM is the winner, stock against stock. It's more comfortable, faster and more consistent to reload, and shoots just as well. Against a modified G45, it's a wash. They shoot very similarly, handle similarly, but that cost difference is hard to justify.
Well I went full cannibalization mode on my X-five after yet another failed attempt of getting the SAO trigger to be decent, so that frame is now boxed and shelved.
The 226x has received the upper, magwell (3d printed gun gear), and now the takedown lever. I'll be using this in USPSA for fun because it'll never be competitive as an open minor gun. I'll see if it fits the IDPA box and makes weight, so that might be its main job.
Overall this gun is stupid fun to shoot. It's very stable at speed and transitions well between targets. The DASA trigger has been working great and makes shooting fast very easy.
