Allstate trying to scam me
I’ve been with Allstate for home and auto for nearly 8 years. Always had the same credit card on reoccurring payment. Home payment is the 1st of the month and auto is the 15th. Never had an issue.
The May 1 payment got “declined” according to Allstate (that’s all the info they are giving me.) As well as the May 15 payment. Both hit me with a $50NSF fee ($100 total) I received a notice in the mail around May 20 about the May 1 payment so I check my credit card and there are no issues (my classic car insurance on the same card has no issues as well as all my other bills). I call Allstate to square up the missed payment and they tell me that I am not able to make a payment and must wait until June 1 for the system to charge my credit card. Declined again. (More fees)
I visit my local branch and offer to pay the entire policy in full if they waive all the NSF fees. They refuse. This was a day before my next bill, and they refused my paying the outstanding balance as well… stating that the next payment is already cued to hit my card. (Guess what…. It declined) My credit card company has said they see no declined payments. They believe Allstate is not even attempting to charge the card. Allstate says the issue is with my card and it’s my problem to fix. Not sure how to proceed. Allstate is playing hardball and wants extra money that is not rightfully owed to them. It seems stupid to not accept a full payment and waive the fees and retain a customer… this is any other creditors wet dream.
I’m prepared to cancel the policy and pay nothing. Any advice?
