Natgen rant

I’m not sure if anyone else is as frustrated about this as I am but I’ve just about had it….. Since the office in TJ opened, it has been a constant issue with having to go back behind those reps and clean up after them because they are constantly taking unacceptable proof, processing endorsements and cancellations incorrectly, making exceptions that CAN NOT be made due to them violating guidelines, etc. It honestly feels like they are living in a completely different world than stateside. They have had 2 large retraining sessions in the last year and nothing has gotten any better. Do state side reps have issues and make mistakes? Absolutely! Myself included; however, it has been made abundantly apparent that stateside is held to a significantly higher standard than TJ. It’s freaking EXHAUSTING.

Home policy- Shower Pan Failure

Long story short. Purchased a home and moved in 4 months ago. Last month we noticed three small areas of water/moisture on the downstairs ceiling under our primary bathroom. We immediately got a plumber out that next day through our 3rd party home warranty and they deemed that it was 95% likely that our shower pan had failed at the drain point. Contractor friend of ours also verified this. We stopped using that shower as soon as we saw the damage btw.

What is the likelihood of getting a claim approved to replace the shower drain and associated damage? Does it help our case at all that our shower pan passed the home inspection report back in March?

I’ve seen that claim adjusters could deny for it being gradual wear and tear, but the damage has just appeared and we are acting timely as it was hidden in the ceiling/subfloor for however long.

Phone Sales Graduation Metrics

I’m coming up on 3 months at Allstate (NatGen) as a sales rep and ive noticed that as much training they throw at you and that “you need to do this or that” it feels very much luck based to hit the metrics you need to graduate. Am I the only one that feels this way or am I going crazy? As I say this I am binding a PAP w/ Renters & VIP so I guess I should complain more lol

should I hate my job this much?

I recently began my position as an auto liability adjuster and every morning I wake up to go to the job I’m filled with dread and despair. My team is great and my boss is awesome. The work itself is what I hate. It’s hybrid, the benefits are amazing, and the upward mobility seems above average so I feel bad complaining. However, I find the work bleak and I don’t feel like I’m actually helping anyone.

My background is in customer service and I love to actually make a difference. I think I messed up choosing this job because I don’t like cars, I’m pretty girly, and I crave a more whimsical/feminine energy in my workplace. My last job was a mixologist at a fine dining restaurant for years and I loved it but I had to move on because the hours weren’t letting me see my family. I’m wondering how long I should put my feelings to the side. I’ve also been waiting to pull the trigger on finally becoming a therapist and getting my masters in counseling and I feel like the soullessness of this job has been pushing me towards my dream. My boss always compliments my empathy on and off calls and says I have an incredible voice on the phones.

I’m turning 30 this year and I felt that this would be a great start to my career as my first big girl job, but is any of this even worth it if I never feel happiness? The only time I’m happy is either when I’m fantasizing about quitting or distracting myself from my job on the weekends. I had to start an SNRI and a beta blocker for my newfound panic attacks as a result of this job. I had to leave work early once because I could not stop crying. As a quick disclaimer, I actually love hard work. I’m not lazy. Something about this job though just feels so cursed. We’ve been in onboard/licensing/training for two months and I’ve had my own claims for maybe three weeks now and my performance is improving but I feel extremely dissatisfied. My boyfriend is being encouraging and saying to give it time, but life is short and I don’t want to feel this way anymore. Will this change?

So many agents are leaving

It’s wild watching the talent drain right now. A bunch of people have already left, way more are on the way out, and others are just waiting on the right exit. The funniest (and saddest) part is scrolling through here and seeing people asking how to get hired, while so many on the inside are actively trying to escape.
Honestly, it feels like the only people staying are those content with 40k–70k. I genuinely wonder what the veteran agents are thinking and why they’re choosing to stick it out.
There are so many things people used to love about NatGen, and at its heart, it has always been about the people. But now that the people are leaving, what is even left to stay for? Is leadership just completely checked out on retaining top talent?
And on top of all that, management just keeps pushing more useless add-on products nobody actually needs. Total cash grab. But sure, "yes master," gotta keep slinging the bs packages just to keep food on the table.
The morale hit has been brutal. Seeing colleagues lose homes and cars—all while watching their mental health tank—is heartbreaking.

AllState Protection Plan is a scam

Google reports that many consumers are calling these "protection plans" a quasi scam. My own experience is that it is very difficult to navigate, to the point where I just gave up and bought a brand-new appliance. Not worth my time fighting. Lesson learned. Stay away.

Here's what happened: I bought a washer online from Home Depot. The protection plan assured me that we'd get service within 3 days if anything broke.

Two years later, the washer breaks.

I hop online and start filing a claim.

It can't find my policy. No worries.

I call the number; it keeps saying to go online, but I successfully navigate to the operator.

"Oh you need to send the receipt in."

Weird. I literally have an email with the plan number and everything, but OK. It's online. I have all my emails; let's go.

I sent it in. I get confirmation that it was received. And then...Crickets.

I call again. "Oh, we see that you started something, but you have to send in your receipt. We see that the price you paid is more than what we show"

I said, "Why does that matter? Just send a tech to fix this thing?"

I was naive to think that they do this...Now I understand, after reading all the Reddit reviews, that what they actually do is deny and delay, and grudgingly give something when they absolutely have to.

"You need to send in your receipt again"

I did. And waited 4 more days. And called again. And tried again online 3 more times.

I'm done. I bought a new appliance, and I will never again get any kind of Allstate insurance or protection plan. You win. I hope you enjoy my $100.

Huge Price Difference

I priced vehicle insurance with All State the other day, the agent over the phone told me it would be $217 and some change for my policy. I went online and did the quote myself and it was $88.88. Any reason why there’s such a huge price difference?

Roadside Assistance Fail

This is the first time anything like this has happened to me.

Yesterday my tire popped, so I pulled over and used Allstate roadside assistance to change it to my spare. A guy comes out and is able to change it to the spare.

The issue comes when he gets his bolt from the drill stuck on the lug nut?? It is stuck bad, and then he leaves. I don’t know much about cars, but I know this is an issue. I go to Walmart right afterwards to get a new tire.

Because of the stuck bolt Walmart can’t remove the spare. They tried a bunch of stuff to get it off, but nothing they do works.

I feel like mad max driving around with a spike on my rim. This is insane, and I feel like I’m a worst situation than if I just got my car towed somewhere. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear it.

How long after your remote sales interview did you get a reply / decision?

BTW - I’ve read the numerous “cut bonus” concerns.

I’m returning to the insurance industry after a long long time and am effectively new aside from a shiny new general lines P&C license.

I had my remote video interview about a week ago and it went quite well and barring something crazy, I think I have the job in-hand but would like to know for sure so I know if I should be looking for temporary or long-term work.

Assuming I get it, my thoughts are to stay long enough to get some benefits and experience if it’s a bad fit and (hopefully) stay if met with success.

TL;DR - Title

Drivewise worth it!

I just got our first renewal since using drivewise and am getting a $1,000 discount. If you drive safely this is a great way to reduce rates. And i have a 20 year old male on my insurance, so i need all the discounts i can get.

Allstate/Nat Gen comp reports

Seems to always be errors in comp reports. Points missing or even whole policies. Anyone know how this works? Are they pulled directly from the system by the system, or is it done manually? Changes have supposedly have August already messed up and July seems off also.

Waited in line at Taste of the Danforth just to get turned away by Allstate for ALREADY being a customer?

I know this is a minor festival grievance, but something weird happened at Taste of the Danforth that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I waited in line for quite a while at the Allstate booth to join in on the festival wheel spin. When I finally reached the front, the staff asked if I was already an Allstate customer. I proudly said yes, thinking loyalty was a good thing, only to be turned away on the spot. They told me the wheel was strictly for "new prospective leads interested in a quote."

I totally get that companies use these booths for lead generation, but making a paying client wait in a long line just to reject them in front of a crowd feels like terrible event etiquette. There weren't even signs posted saying "New Prospects Only."

Is this standard practice now for street fest vendors, or did I just run into an overly strict booth crew?

Allstate/Natgen Employees pension plan

For anyone who has been with the company for a few years: how do you feel about the pension plan?

Do you think the pension is worth more than having a yearly bonus?
How does the pension actually work, and how much have you seen it grow over the years?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have been here for a while and can share their experience.
