What did you stop doing in SEO and rankings did not drop?

A lot of people defend SEO tactics that mayn't matter as much as we think. What did you stop doing that was supposed to be important, and rankings stayed the same?

Schema, meta descriptions, alt text, daily posts, disavow files, social signals. Could be anything.

If your rankings didn't move, maybe the tactic wasn't doing what people claim.

Anyone getting real traffic from old Reddit comments?

I keep hearing that old Reddit comments can drive long-term traffic because Google ranks them. A few people I know say their old replies still bring in clicks months later.

Has anyone here actually seen this? Or is it just hype?

If you have, which subs worked best and what kind of comments still get clicks today?

Will SEO be replaced by Generative, Answer, and Agentic AI?

I keep seeing this debate everywhere. Some people say SEO is dying because users will get answers directly from AI.

Others say SEO will just change into something like GEO, AEO, or whatever new acronym people come up with next.

Why are so many SEO experts hostile towards AI?

Yes, I know that AI contents are mostly low quality and spammy. But bad SEO existed long before AI. People were already publishing thin content, buying junk backlinks, and stuffing keywords for years.

AI is just a tool. If a lazy SEO uses it, the result is bad. If a smart SEO uses it, it can save time and improve workflows.

It helps with things like content outlines, keyword grouping, search intent analysis, brainstorming ideas, competitor research, and simplifying technical SEO tasks.

That doesn't mean you should publish raw AI content without editing.

What I don't understand is why some SEO experts act personally offended by AI. I feel it's less like criticism and more like people fear that basic SEO tasks are becoming easier and faster.

AI won't replace good SEO strategy or experience. But it will expose people doing basic work as secret expertise.
