Need Recommendations (≧▽≦)

I'm desperately looking for historical danmei with this specific dynamic.
I don't mind if the MC transmigrates, reincarnates, or is native to the world. What I really want is this trope:
The MC comes across someone who seems miserable, abused, abandoned, misunderstood, or destined for a tragic ending (could be the villain, the protagonist, cannon fodder, etc.). Feeling sorry for him, the MC decides to protect him, save him, or give him the life he deserves.
But...
The ML is actually the complete opposite of what he appears to be.
In front of the MC, he's obedient, gentle, innocent, clingy, and acts like he can't survive without him. Meanwhile, behind the MC's back, he's manipulative, calculating, morally gray (or completely black), and absolutely terrifying. Everyone else knows how dangerous he is except the MC.
Bonus points if:
- ML is an obsessive, possessive yandere.
- He only pretends to be weak so the MC will dote on him.
- He eliminates anyone who threatens or gets close to the MC.
- He'll happily manipulate the entire world, but would never intentionally hurt the MC.
- The reveal of his true personality happens gradually.
- Historical/xianxia/wuxia or court politics setting.
I've already read Mistakenly Saving the Villain and absolutely loved this kind of dynamic, so I'm looking for more novels with a similar vibe.
Any underrated recommendations are welcome! I don't mind if the romance is slow-burn, and I'm okay with darker themes as long as the ML doesn't abuse the MC.
( I'm basically looking for a wolf in sheep's clothing who only acts like a harmless puppy in front of the MC. )
