The reason I am an ASM for TJX.

I chose retail management at a store like TJX mainly because I love developing and training others in the way the company sees fit and I love what TJX has to offer and have mainly enjoyed my experience from when I started as a part time CEC. I believe that being a manager in any setting is an important job, but not as or more important than a medical professional, lawyer, teacher, et cetera and that is the main reason I picked retail management in this industry!

I don't want to be a therapist, I don't want to be a teacher, I don't want to be a nurse, and I don't want to help you with your legal problems! I chose to work in a NONESSENTIAL retail store where I can just interact with customers who just have money to blow and where I don't have to take work home or feeling like I failed at work that day because someone died, I lost a case, or that kid didn't pass the test under my instruction. Lol, I hope this makes sense. I just basically enjoy having a job that's not super important in the grand scheme of things that pays me a good salary and I think that is okay!

TJX Blackout Days? I am an ASM.

So I am an ASM that recently submitted for a week off in November back in August since I thought was enough time im advance to submit it. My request was denied due to Q4 being considered a holiday blackout period where no time off requests can be submitted by management. Cool, that's not the issue I have and I under why that may be a policy. I just hadn't been told until then. The issue I am having is that other ASMs and my SM have time off on the calendar we use for monthly scheduling in the months of November and December which are in Q4 and considered part of the blackout period which confuses me. I am not upset about the blackout policy, but I am upset that the rules seem to not be applied fairly across the board.

I asked my manager what days he suggest I take off sincr I was denied and if I am restricted from pretty much Nov-Jan and he said probably after that. However, I didn't confront him about the other people who were able to somehow have time off for those months that were "blacked out." Am I overreacting or no?

Favorite things about working for TJX?

I am an ASM now, but started with TJX as a PT CEC, then FT CEC, then FT Key Carrier. I love TJX, but know it has its ups and downs of course. However, I see a lot of negativity about the company in the thread when everyone has a choice in this world to work where they want in this free country. So on a positive note, what are some of your favorite things about working for TJX? Positive comments only!
