Rant about customers

Customers can be so rude. People need to start learning basic manners. Yesterday I had a customer who got very upset with the way I folded her clothes. She said that it would make them wrinkled by the time she was home and that she wanted to wear them. I took them back out and folded them as neatly as possible, and she said it was unacceptable, took all the clothes back out, and folded them on the counter after she had already payed. Mind you the check out line is crazy long. I've always tried to be neat with my folding and I admit sometimes I get lazy with it if I'm trying to work faster. But like damn. Also I hate to say it but you should 100% wash your clothes after buying them from TJ Maxx. You don't know where it's been who it's touched. It's probably been tried on by other people, been dragged on the floor, etc.

What do you guys think?

Another thing, not really a huge deal, I just simply hate when I'm trying to name the rewards and people interrupt me. I completely understand being annoyed by me talking about the card, but like it's my job man. I will be like you can earn 5% back and they just go NO NOPE NO. Like please just let me finish my sentence first. I always get so awkward and embarrassed when they cut me off because I don't know whether to just shut up or continue my sentence as the managers expect.

Anyways, yeah, just needed to rant. I've been having a rough time with family issues and it just sucks to have to go to work and deal with rude people all day. I know that's retail, but often I deal with very nice people. Maybe yesterday just wasn't my day.

I'm sure you guys deal with this stuff constantly too, I might just be being dramatic. It's just been a lot for me lately.

UPDATE: Had a customer yank my wrist out of anger

Okayyy this is mainly a nothingburger update but I know some commenters wanted an update and I know some people might be upset with how I'm going with this.

Long story short; nothing came out of it. I told all of my managers about the situation and even though they said they will get the AP guy to look at footage, it's been total silence about that. Which I get though as usual store managers are, they only care about cards and customer satisfaction. Here's where most people might get upset at me about; I'm not going to push for anything to happen as it was already almost a month ago and I have more important stuff in my life than to press charges against that customer. So, pretty much nothingburger like I said.

What did upset me a little though was that the same customer came back a few days ago and the manager who saw me break down in front of her due to it, told the jewelry associate to "be super nice to that customer" instead of you know, kicking her out the store. Manager didn't even tell me herself either that the customer was in the store, she had the jewelry associate tell me because I had to cover her lunch break while the customer was still there. I said fuck that and gave the keys to the CEC who understood. According to the CEC, the customer checked out and said some snarky shit about the CEC not ringing even though CECs are not allowed to ring at my store.

TJ Maxx Funny Returns

Some items people want to return is ridiculous. I want to hear your guys stories!

I'll go first:

* Switched a $89.99 ticket on a FREE Victoria Secret swag bag. We don't even sell Victoria Secret.

* Box with the words "2012 Bride" on it, it was clear and had yellowing all around, yuck. Switched tag on it for $34.99.

* Opened, used, $79.99 face cream with no receipt and no box. This customer threw a whole fit and said why can't I return it. I said cause I don't have any information for it! No tag+ No receipt= No return. She then said Sephora does it. Well, Sephora has a database and knows exactly what item it is and if they carry it. This is Tj Maxx. We do not have inventory and can't look up products like Sephora can. (I only knew it was 79.99 because I've seen it before).

* Target branded clothing with runway/ Dept 7 on it.

* Ross tag for $19.99 was still attached to a dress shirt that had a switched tag for $49.99...

Random blood spatters?

Super random but my roomate moved out and I was cleaning the room and saw these splatters on one wall and then a small part of the ceiling across the room. I’m almost 100% certain it’s blood but what I can’t wrap my head around is how this would have gotten on the ceiling or the upper wall? And why there’s no pattern to it, they’re confined to the spots shown in the pictures. It makes no sense how this could have gotten there and why it’s not everywhere?

Employee Dress code Question

I’d really appreciate if anyone could help me out with this! I have orientation tomorrow, and I was wondering if airforce 1’s are okay shoes and fit the dress code? And also, are nail extensions okay or do my nails have to be natural?

Store Policy

Has anyone had issues with trying on bras? I went today and had over 10 items so I had to make two trips. The first time I had a bikini set and had no issues. The 2nd time, I had a pack of bralettes. The exact same employee told me I wasn’t allowed to try on the bras because it’s underwear. I’ve never been told this before PLUS she literally allowed me to try on the swimsuit RIGHT BEFORE. I know I could’ve just asked for a manager but I was already iffy about the bralettes so I took that as a sign to not buy them. I ended up asking the cashier in the front and confirmed we are able to try on bras. Weird experience nonetheless!

Kronos digital clock

Is anyone else’s store getting rid of the Kronos device we use to clock in/clock out? My managers have only told coords which is how I found out myself. I’ve seen multiple Reddit posts about workjam going through an update but I’m still able to use the app to see my schedule and everything. Like managers have not mentioned anything to us about a workjam update😭😭.

Can’t log in to workjam? New coordinator or workjam update issue

I’ve been working at HomeGoods for the past two months and accepted a promotion to be a [seasonal] big ticket coordinator since they know I’m leaving for college in the fall. I’m now having issues logging in to WorkJam. I saw some other Reddit threads saying that the end of the login changes to tjx.com instead of mytjx.com but my old password doesn’t work for either.

I’m unable to reset my password for either variation. When I tried, the @mytjx.com version says that the username does not exist and the @tjx.com version says I did not set up self-service password reset. Is there a number I can call to fix this or is it because of the new WorkJam system? I’ve been looking at paper schedules so far but I like having access to the app. I’d also much prefer to call a number myself than have to bother a manager to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I’m sorry but I need to vent

Today I walked into TJ Maxx for the millionth time looking for a work tote.

I’ve been searching for months because I’m starting a new job soon and had a very specific idea of what I wanted. As soon as I walked in, I saw it: a black leather Tumi work tote. It was honestly perfect, like even better than what I had imagined. It normally retails for around $750, and this one was $300, so I was really excited.

An employee came over to unlock it for me. I was about to put it in my cart, but he told me they had to hold it at the front instead. I gave him my name and kept shopping for some things for an upcoming trip before starting my new job.

When I got to the register to pay, the bag was gone.
The cashier was really nice and told me to go look for it, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. They even called a manager to help me look, and it was just completely gone. They basically said, “He must have put it back and someone bought it,” and that there wasn’t anything else they could do.

I know this is such a first world problem, and I know it’s not a huge deal. I was just really bummed because I had been looking for it for months, and I was excited that I’d found a nice, long lasting bag I could actually afford as I start my career. There’s no way I can afford to pay for the actual retail price.

Anyway, that’s my rant. I feel like if a store requires employees to hold locked items at the front, they should actually hold them for the customers or at least tell you there’s a time limit before they put it back on the floor.

Edit:
GUYS OMG I have an update. I didn’t wanna walk in here today but something told me I should. So I did…. And IT WAS THERE. Like in the same spot as before and this time it wasn’t attached to the security label thing. But I didn’t realize so I clicked the button for the lady to come unlock it. She goes “oh my god! This was unlocked!” And I was like okay well I want it. And she goes “okay. I have to take it to the register.” And I’m like well I’ll go with you to go pay for it. And she goes “no. I have to take it to the back of the register” and I told her what happened to me last night and she STILL denied me and asked my name to go put it back there.

I walked straight to the line. Thankfully, it was at the register this time and I bought it :)

What is it all worth

I downloaded Reddit to talk about how much I loathe this job

How is the store packed to the brim every single day. The doors will literally just open and suddenly everybody’s moms are in here taking a stroll. Genuinely the only time the day was calm was when there was a fucking flood warning. You people are sick.

The cards are the most bogus thing I have ever heard of. When I started I was moved around a lot but then one day I unfortunately made a ton of cards and suddenly I’m trapped at the register for the rest of my life. My coordinators will breathe down my back and pressure me about cards, holding me up to this new standard that I’ve created for myself. Some days I genuinely feel like I need to use my employee discount to buy a tree and makeup for all the oxygen I’m wasting not being able to produce a card for this company.

Anytime I see somebody in line with a tjmaxx bag I have to refrain from taking off my belt and hanging myself in the break room because I know it’s about to be the most complicated return process on 3 separate receipts and they also don’t know which receipt is for what and oh also that one’s missing a tag who knows where that went. Who cares.

Edit: also I’d like to add on it’s insane the amount of people they hire yet there’s still always like 2 people up at the register. What happened. I will see 3 new people hired every week and then I’ll never see them again. They’re the lost souls of tjmaxx who were taken alongside my hours

Can ya’ll tell me about a time you messed up at work? I want to feel better.

I had completely forgotten our policy to have management sign receipts over $200. I was working on autopilot and barely even remember the return. All I know is that they had a receipt so I just processed it without thinking. I forgot to tell my manager to sign it ughhhh.

Anyway I got scolded and I’m embarrassed now. Lost prevention got mad about it (it was a legit return with our tags attached and they had a freaking receipt. They had just purchased the items two days ago.)

My gm told me next time this happens it’s a write up. I’ve never been written up or scolded seriously and it made me sad. 😔

Feeling like an idiot because I completely forgot in the moment.

Welp there goes my CEC position😭✌️

They been asking me if I would be interested in the role like twice I told them yes but nothing really ever happened. But today I accepted a counterfeit $20 and now they definitely not asking me to be the CEC again😭we were busy and I guess I slipped up and didn’t really look But hearing all the people say it’s not worth the extra $1 raise maybe I dodged a bullet🤔
