Open Availability

I'm not sure why they want full- and part-time employees to have open availability. This is a part-time job for many people. When did this become policy?

LP Question

I have a coworker who constantly gets around 5 credit card sign ups almost every time she works. Because of this the managers favor her so much and she never gets in trouble when she calls out. I worked up front with her a few times and heard her telling customers that they get 30% off when they're approved for the card. Is this LP tip line worthy?

Anyone else’s store no longer taking returns from Marshall’s, Homegoods, etc.?

At the beginning of the year, at a managers discretion, our store is no longer taking returns from Marshalls or any other store linked to the company. The reason being that the dept and style numbers are not the same as ours and it’s a pain in the butt to translate them to ours. I’m just wondering if anyone else’s store did the same?

wanting to work here? run.

I applied to this job since it seemed like such a fun place to work at. My grandpas girlfriend and a family friend also works there, so I figured why not. I went to the interview, and I thought it went great. Around 4 days later, I got an email saying I was hired.

Well, nearly a week later and I still haven’t started my first day. Why you ask? They ended up filling the 2 open cashier positions they had (which I was supposed to be one) so now they don’t know what to do with me. I also applied to be full time, though now for some reason their website has me as part time. I called yesterday and the lady on the phone was VERY rude!! They’re making me now wait over a week because one person is on vacation. Ridiculous. I do not recommend this place and they have now officially lost my business.

What causes store checkout lines to ALWAYS be wrapped around the store? There could be 10 cashiers and yet there’s 100 people in line with very slow movement

didnt get hired on the spot interview does that means theres no chance

it was a fulltime position for Beauty Merchandise Associate, but after i told the manager that's interviewing me that i will be go back to college after summer break she said this job should be more than summer (i feel like this is the deal breaker because she's happy with my resume experiences and stuffs but i feel like since i told her about this i felt like i shouldn't have said it)

But also at the end she did ask me my availabilities and when can i start, and because my phone number on the application was wrong so before i left she write down my correct Phone number. But she said because its a holiday weekend and there are other candidates so she'll get back to me and call me on next Thursday to let me know their decision.

does anyone know is this a good sign or I'm probably not gonna make it

TJx Sales Floor Sales

This company has just been reaching far beyond its scope at this point. I see posts on here all the time and I've personally heard from our customers that people are feeling completely harassed about the TJx card. As they should. We do announcements about it every half hour (and some days, every 15 minutes) and our associates are being required to ask for the three no's. And now, our sales floor associates, who are already buried in all the crap from the backroom (which, as quoted by one of the managers, has "a million clothes to hang,") are being required to walk around the store with the pamphlets and speak to literally every customer about it while they're shopping and do nothing else at all. Corporate is out of their depths. They have no idea what our customers actually want. The people making these asinine decisions are out-of-touch to an absurd and honestly pathetic degree. I'm sure others here feel the same but I am checked out. Completely exhausted by their decisions.

How easy is it to get fired?

So basically I kind of suck at my job. I don’t get any cards because I don’t feel like it’s morally the right thing to do. I constantly scan people’s items more than once to the point where they have to come back and complain to my manager about me, and I also take forever to bag things. I’m new, so I haven’t been trained on the back room stuff yet, but I do need a new phone and a couple thousand dollars by August next year. At this rate I’m making like $300 a month 😭(and this is with me having an entirely open availability) and I feel sooo bad because my managers are nice and like me, but I feel like I hold everyone back and I don’t wanna get fired, so I might quit. But I’m trying to give myself grace because I can’t do that every time something like this happens in my life. It’s just sooo demoralizing.

I used to work at Publix from like 14–16, and 14-year-old me messed up a lot and learned a lot throughout those 2 years. I was actually pretty good at my job when I became a cashier. They weren’t hiring when I moved, so I ended up here, but this feels so different. I’m kind of learning. I can take all the tags off, I can put stuff back since it’s easier to find things than in grocery, but I constantly need help, and at this rate I feel like they’re going to find someone else. I feel even worse about quitting because it’s gonna suck if all of this feels like a waste of time when it was already so hard to find a job anyway.

Tjmaxx (and all sister stores 🥺) has the worst customer service approach

The customers don't want to be badgered with the same robotic "Hi did you find everything okay? Wonderful! Are you a TJX card member?" every single time they come in.

It's worse when you're shopping at a store that is not your home location and you present your discount card but that poor cashier still gives a fuck enough to ask you... I know this game too well

Now put the fact that you ain't shit unless you get a card into a bunch of 17-19 year olds' heads and any customer who doesn't want to sign up (or already has a card bc all my manager cares about his new apps) is not worth your time.

And you know what that results in? Bad customer service due to pressure from management

Ernie Herman doesn't care about the people who are lining his pockets with money and he sure doesn't care about the workers who are making it happen

FUCK YOU ERNIE 🗣️🖕

Fuck you Ernie Herman! This fat fuck cares more about making 60 BILLION DOLLARS IN SALES while he cuts hours, pays his employees the bare minimum, and forces his other corporate employees to force the store employees to harass customers to sign up for credit cards meanwhile the employees working in these stores deal with all of the bullshit first hand!!! The abuse from the company and the abuse from the customers. All just to not even make ends meet and not be able to afford to eat 3 meals a day. I am SURE this loser hasn’t dealt with customers one on one EVER! Everyone, BOOO this disgusting and pathetic piece of shit with me!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!🗣️🗣️🗣️

Reason for Return

Yesterday I had a customer return a $100 pillow (made of alpaca fur). When I asked her the reason for the return (I always ask if anything was wrong with the item), she said, "Chat GPT told me it didn't work." I mean, she's using AI to help her decorate her home?!

Not getting promoted over not selling enough credit cards

I’ve been working at my Marshall’s for 4 years and I have been a coordinator for 2 1/2 of those years. I’ve jumped between floor coordinators and CEC.

I am currently a CEC and I applied for the admin coordinator position. I thought I was for sure going to get the position because I had been expressing interest in this position for months and I also have a bachelors degree in business administration.

I did my interview with 2 ASMs and about a week later the store manager pulls me into his office and tells me they will not be going forward with me because I sold one credit card last month. I explained to him that the entire month of April was very hard because they had no payroll and would schedule me one or 2 cashiers throughout the entire day. So I was more focused on making sure our lines were down and the front end was clean.

He told me my performance had been lacking, which that was the first I had ever heard that. I explained to him that during my yearly evaluations I have never ever received a low score or poor feedback. Every year I am given an amazing score and a nice raise.

I am so frustrated because out of 4 ASMs and 1 store manager, none of them ever gave me any sort of negative feedback on my performance at work and all of a sudden I am “not leading the team” or “leading by example”. It felt like a huge slap in the face and I’m not even sure what to do at this point. Obviously I’d love a new job, especially since I got my degree last year but the market has been terrible.
