Winners/HomeSense: Washroom Rant

Hey, Winners!

Maybe it'd be a good idea to have a second stall for the Male's washroom? Especially when it's out of service and you need to go.

Of course, this would be fine if I were a customer, but I'm an employee.

The women's washroom has eight stalls but men get one stall and a urinal. At least, give employees a private washroom.

What a joke.

I've been with company for way too fucking long and nobody wants to work at this location because its a fucking nightmare.

14 cash registers and there is Max 4 associates on them with lines full of people.

How do you ask for the credit card?

The way I ask is I say: “Do you have your tjx rewards card with you today?

Customer says no: “Look today I had a customer and they used 3 of these coupons and they saved $30 on their purchase today.”

I show them a pic of a coupon off my phone.
I lie and say that I have had the card for 2 years now and that every time I shop here I use it to get my rewards.

Customer still says no:
I explain all the benefits really quick and tell them if they apply and if they get approved they get 10% off today or on a future purchase.

Customer says : “But i already have too many credit cards or I don’t really shop here that much”.

“Well if you get approved for the Mastercard, you can use it at any store even outside of the country and you will still be getting your points.”

What do you guys think too misleading or I can ask in a better way?

TJX stock

I saw that their stock has decreased a decent amount but I have a feeling it’ll go back up🫩🫩. I have heard sales aren’t doing so well on the Marshall’s and Tjmaxx side so maybe it’s that?

Do customers not understand?

So I closed in jewelry a couple days ago, and I was showing this lady necklaces that were gold and that were almost worth 600 dollars. After, this other customer comes and asks me if I can show her this jewelry on the other side of the counter, and I politely said “yes, i will show you after i help this lady right here” and the lady I was helping said “oh it’s okay you can go help her i can just try these on” and i told her “no, unfortunately i can’t help two at the same time and i have to stay with the jewelry! its company policy!” and she said “oh i’m not gonna do anything you can just show her” I was already annoyed and said “no it’s okay i can only help you right now” and after she said with an attitude “wow they’re very strict over here” to the other lady

Like come on, I just told you it was company policy! I can only help one person at a time!!!

Visit yesterday

DM came to visit the store and walked through the departments. The only bad thing she said was the q line doesn’t make any sense cuz there’s too much of home 😹. Managers were mad at us like it’s our fault. That’s what they get. They tried to do a coordinator meeting but couldn’t cuz we were understaffed 👹. They sounded pissed on the walkie. They had me take out grids from the toy gondola so I guess they want the toys to fall through the floor like they used to before 🤷‍♂️. Like why is it so hard for yall to order some?!?? I’m telling you they genuinely don’t gaf about mens/kids cuz it’s barely invested in. I can’t wait to leave cuz only me and the coordinator are the ones keeping it alive and they’re cooked if either of us leave.

New hire is a reseller

We recently got a bunch of new hires at my store and one of them I thought looked really familiar. Turns out she’s one of the regulars that comes in often, buys a shit ton of the same item, then sends it to be resold on Amazon for profit. I heard that employees were not allowed to purchase a bunch of items for the sole purpose of reselling and then profiting off of the items they purchased (specifically with their employee discount which I’m sure is one of the main reasons she started working at TJ). Is this something I should report to LP?

Digestible amounts

Any stores out there that can follow the digestible amounts and blitzing correctly? What’s your pallet cap? How many people do you have scheduled back there and are they schedule for five hour shifts or seven hour shifts?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s more beneficial to have more people for a five hour shift or less people for seven.

Our pallet cap is only 10 with 6 day trucks , but we can never seem to stay door to floor. We get backed up on hanging very quickly.

I’m struggling trying to find a way to schedule the back room correctly and everybody that I ask at the regional office tells me something different I’m just looking for real actionable advice 🤣

cashier didn’t ring up item

UPDATE: i did bring the item back to pay for it. the mod insisted on me telling who rang me up😬 my conscience is clear at least lol. thank you for all the advice!

i’m an associate and the cashier didn’t ring up my hair clips. since i work there do i need to do the right thing and go back and pay for them? or is it just a loss on their end cause she didn’t ring them up lol. screw the company, but i am scared of getting in trouble if that’s considering “stealing”.

TJ Maxx interview tomorrow — what questions did they ask you?

Hi! I have a TJ Maxx interview tomorrow for a retail position and I’m trying to prepare. What questions did they ask you during your interview? If you remember any of the questions or have any tips for what they’re looking for, I’d really appreciate it! I’m 17, if that makes a difference.

What to do with my 401k when I am quitting?

I’m quitting TJmaxx but have 401k. It was my first time contributing to 401k and have no idea what to do with it. I am going to talk to the store HR, but I would like to know what I need to do in advance. Did you call HR? Or my managers can help me with that? I don’t have much, but it’s still money so I don’t want to lose it. Thanks

Too many hours

I know this is gonna sound crazy but bro I’m convinced I might be the only person working in my department 😭 the amount of long days they give me a week is insane I just started a week or two ago. I don’t pay any bills or anything so getting a bunch of hours for me is not a big deal I just wish they’d have someone else training with me because it’s a lot when I’m the only person working a day.

I pretty much opened and closed without even realizing it my last shift. One guy was working with me but he resigned. He told me he was taking 40 hours a week before he was leaving.

I know it’s a blessing and part of me is grateful but idk how to tell my managers I’m not interested in taking up all the work he used to do by myself

Can cashiers see what the item looks like in their screen when customer returns something? I think the furniture I bought is missing a piece

I bought a nightstand and when I looked at it at home I noticed the top empty spot kinda looks like it was missing a drawer. If I bring it back can a cashier scan it and see if it’s supposed to be like that?? It’s really cute but now it’s bothering me because I paid good money for it

Switching tags issue??

Edit: I don’t know if customers are becoming more scammy or if it’s just my store, but I’ve noticed that there’s been an alarming amount of items that have tags switched. I keep coming across customers that like to buy items on clearance, only to find out that the department numbers on the clearance sticker don’t match the original price or the department number on the clearance tag DOES match with the original tag, but the ulines are different.

Istg I rung up this lady who said she was happy that she found some “good deals” (she found a sweater that was $7.00 on clearance and two pair of Levi’s jeans that were both between $6.00-8.00 on clearance as well), and ALL of the items had yellow tags on them.

I had to show my manager the yellow tags shown on the sweater and the Levi’s pants and he called for a price check on all the items and guess what happened…

The sweater’s ACTUAL price was $24.99 and the Levi’s pants were $29.99, this lady gave me SO much attitude when she found out what the actual prices were. And the funny part about the ticket swaps were that we did an IRL on the clearance tag on one of the Levi’s pants, and the tag popped up as a hair straightener on our system.

The lady was so pissed that she asked the manager if she could see the original prices (not really sure what she needed to see but whatever) and she also told my manager that she was feeling really nervous when he was asking her questions about the tags (this raised my suspicions on her trying to get away with ticket swapping).

Anyways, there’s also another situation where sometimes people genuinely find clearance tags misplaced on items (to which I call for a price check), and I come to find out that the price shown on the clearance tag is correct but that the uline is just wrong, and that confuses me because how are we (associates) supposed to know if someone’s trying to ticket swap or not.

I asked my manager what I should do if I find a misplaced clearance tag with the right department number but has a mismatched uline on an item, and he said to just call for a price check and let him know, but that he’s also going to have a meeting with the district management about it.

I got a new job

I quit TJ Maxx my last day is this Thursday? I’ve been working there five years and I’m not gonna take verbally abuse anymore. Also, I needed to get benefits, but they’re not gonna give me benefits and also they just kept putting me in the fitting room. I don’t wanna do register, but I asked to do other departments but what is the most infuriating thing is there are girls that came way after me and they got to be in home department and it made me extremely angry, but since I quit oh well lol thoughts?

I hate the credit cards

I’m an employee at Marshalls and I hate hate hate the credit cards. I hate that we get pushed to sell them so much! And it’s not the fact that I have to upsell, I’m used to that and I’ve had to do it a bunch of times. I’m actually pretty good at it when I want to be. However the card just fucking sucks. It’s actually just a scam it literally makes me feel like scum having to asking people if they want it. especially since all our managers make us continue to ask even after a someone says no.

First of all, all the benefits of the card suck down to the interest rate, there are so many better credit cards you could have. Second I’ve noticed that anyone that has the card are people who can more than afford to not have it. Third anyone who wants the card already has it! I get yelled at all the time because I’m not asking but why would I ask! 70% of our customers are people who come in multiple times every week, I know who they are and I know that they ALREADY HAVE CARDS. Not to mention the actual bank they go through sucks, the amount of times I’ve heard customers complain about the card or say that they closed it because it was difficult to pay back.

Not to mention the way customers actually treat you like shit when you ask. I live and work in an area where it’s mixed with the rich upper classes and the lower classes and it gets so nasty. People are so so rude to you when you even start to ask about the card. And look and know it sucks to always be asked but you understand that it’s our JOB right? Like they can actually fire us if we don’t ask. The way I get cut off and yelled at or berated because I ask if they want a credit card. The nicest person will get so rude the moment I have to ask. You can literally see the joy wiped off a person face when you start your spiel.

Anyways I hate Marshall’s and Tjmaxx and home goods, I hate them all. The place is like hell and the people who shop there act like demons. I can’t wait to graduate so I can escape and look for a new job. Thanxx for reading my rant
