String Through Ferrules

Hey guys, just started making cigar box guitars, having a really fun time of it. Have an idea for a small box that I’d like to put the neck right through, but I can’t figure out what parts I need to do the string through ferrules correctly. Basically like the picture.

Do I need the cups under and the narrow ferrules up top? It looks like that will be two different size holes that I’ll need to drill out?

Thanks for the help, I’ll get some photos of my builds once I get them together.

[US-CA, San Diego] Shadow Box

Hello, a buddy of mine is retiring after 20+ years in the Navy in August. I’m helping out with his retirement, we’re a little behind the curve on his shadow box. He’s a huge Star Wars fan, and I was thinking having a Death Star that opens would be amazing. I was thinking something large enough that his combination cover could sit in the middle, its longest diameter is about 11”.

It would be a very big piece, and maybe I’m being unrealistic given the size/timeframe needed.

Thoughts?
