2026 r/JamesBond World Cup: Quarterfinal Results
Semifinal 1 begins tomorrow, and Semifinal 2 begins Wednesday!

Semifinal 1 begins tomorrow, and Semifinal 2 begins Wednesday!
The quarterfinals begin next Monday, with matches on Mondays and Wednesdays for two weeks. Some of you thought the Round of 16 had hard choices, but this is where the true favorites will be decided.
Obviously we’ve seen an uptick in activity with the release of First Light, which is great. But I’d like to remind folks to be cognizant of our rules meant to protect the experience people have in this community. In particular, our rules concerning spoilers and to be friendly, welcoming, and respectful.
Concerning spoilers, note that users may be subject to an automatic ban if they don’t follow spoiler etiquette. This includes phrasing used in post titles, using the appropriate spoiler tags for posts and comment text, and to avoid mentioning spoilers in discussions not designated for spoilers. Thus far we haven’t seen any issues with major spoilers, but some posts have been submitted with spoilers for minor events I’m sure people would prefer to experience naturally. As a mod I assume some risk of spoilers, but I personally just ran across a minor one that could’ve easily been avoided had the user tagged the post for spoilers. Not really a big deal, but it’s very easily avoidable. So please be respectful and err on the side of being overly cautious.
Concerning rules on civility, I’ve anecdotally experienced a slight uptick in things like name-calling and petty gibes. I’ve wondered if some new folks have come who aren’t aware of this community’s relatively low tolerance for this sort of thing, so I think it makes sense to remind everyone of some key text from rules 1 and 2:
- Be friendly, welcoming, and respectful. Respect differences of opinion. Interpret arguments in good faith. When you disagree with someone, give them the benefit of the doubt. No personal attacks or denigrating fans whose tastes differ from yours.
- Avoid destructive behavior. Productive communication requires effort; think about how your words will be interpreted. Try not to offer unconstructive criticism of other members or their opinions; being snarky and aggressive isn’t conducive to the great discussion we’ve come to expect from r/JamesBond. It is the responsibility of all parties to de-escalate when conflict arises.
Thanks for your help ensuring r/JamesBond continues to be viewed as one of the classiest places on the internet.
The draw was random, using the pots in image 2. Pots were created based on each movie’s performance in the group stage. I also ensured movies from the same group wouldn’t face each other in the first round.
I’ll post each matchup according to their numbers above, with a poll each Monday and Wednesday, leading up to the final during the week of July 13th.
The Round of 16 begins next Monday with GoldenEye vs. Moonraker!
Now the group stage is concluded, we have a picture of who advances to the round of 16. All P1 and P2 movies advance, as well as the four best-performing P3 movies. In this case their performance is measured based on the “PCT” column, which captures the percentage of total votes each movie received across its matchups.
No polls this week, while I draw the knockout bracket. The round of 16 begins one week from today.
