Piston Advice?
Hey there,
I figured I would make a post here rather than the Honda Monkey sub since the community is bigger.
Anyway, I have a 2021 Honda Monkey with a 186CC BBK (TB). I had the first kit installed back in 2022 and got 4 years (almost 20k miles) out of it, which was awesome.
I did end up cracking the piston, I knew something was bound to happen at some point. Recently, I had the top end redone with the same kit, nothing changed and I just had a failure around 2700 miles. I was expecting to get a little more run out of it. Both installs were done by a shop.
I figured I would save some money and familiarize myself more with the internals of the bike (I am pretty good mechanically).
I was wondering if I could ask the pros here? Does this piston look cooked? The first few pictures are the new kit with about 2700 miles, the last picture is my old piston that had roughly 10k miles. Outside of the obvious crack there isnt as much buildup. It just looks a little weird to me, should I order and replace the piston or do you guys/gals think this is okay?
1st pictures are the newest install with about 2700 miles
2nd pictures are the first kit with about 20k miles
The video is before I took the bike apart, rough idle, metal clacking noises, ticking, loss of power, trouble idling, etc.
