Indulge me

Hey! I’ve ridden dirt bikes since I was young and have been wanting a street/stunt bike for a while. But I have to ask, how do you guys “use” your grom? Like, just for fun, commuting, stunts etc. I’m intrigued to know because I like the idea of a grom due to its availability and entry level aspects but am still unsure. What issues/complaints you may have, what years/specs to stay away from or search for.

New bar day

Installed the protaper honda mini bars today.

Went with the minis over the klx110s or xk50s because I have long ass arms.

Drilled the mounting hole for the controls rather than trying tape or grinding them down. Puting a small dimple rather than drilling a deeper hole works best.

Piston Advice?

Hey there,

I figured I would make a post here rather than the Honda Monkey sub since the community is bigger.

Anyway, I have a 2021 Honda Monkey with a 186CC BBK (TB). I had the first kit installed back in 2022 and got 4 years (almost 20k miles) out of it, which was awesome.

I did end up cracking the piston, I knew something was bound to happen at some point. Recently, I had the top end redone with the same kit, nothing changed and I just had a failure around 2700 miles. I was expecting to get a little more run out of it. Both installs were done by a shop.

I figured I would save some money and familiarize myself more with the internals of the bike (I am pretty good mechanically).

I was wondering if I could ask the pros here? Does this piston look cooked? The first few pictures are the new kit with about 2700 miles, the last picture is my old piston that had roughly 10k miles. Outside of the obvious crack there isnt as much buildup. It just looks a little weird to me, should I order and replace the piston or do you guys/gals think this is okay?

1st pictures are the newest install with about 2700 miles

2nd pictures are the first kit with about 20k miles

The video is before I took the bike apart, rough idle, metal clacking noises, ticking, loss of power, trouble idling, etc.

Honda Grom 2015 Issues

I’ve been having issues for a couple weeks now with my Honda Grom. Originally the battery died on my Grom randomly so I replaced the battery. It died later that day and people online said it was a stator/regulator rectifier issue. I bought a stator and regulator rectifier online. Now it’ll crank but not catch and start. I thought it was my battery being weak so I jumpstarted it with a jump box and somehow I fucked up and something sparked. Now when I press ignition button it’ll just turn off all electrical systems. I changed the fuses etc, and I’ve yet to get it to work. Can anyone please help me? I’ve bought a new starter relay by the way and it still isn’t helping.

Can a Honda Grom realistically be lowered enough for someone 4’7?

Hey guys, looking for some advice before I commit to buying a bike.

I’m 24 and 4’7 due to a disability, but aside from my height my body proportions are pretty normal. My dream is to ride a motorbike and I recently started looking into the Honda Grom after Honda told me it could potentially be lowered for me.

I tried sitting on a Honda Monkey and could just about tiptoe it without boots, although the seat felt quite wide which made it harder. Unfortunately they didn’t have a Grom in store for me to try.

My main question is how people physically lower bikes like the Grom and how realistic it is for someone my height. I’ve seen people mention lowering links, suspension adjustments and shaved seats, but I’m completely new to all of this and don’t know what’s actually safe or effective.

Open to any advice or suggestions from shorter riders 🙏

Anyone else ride their grom fully stock?

I may be in the minority but I don’t mind the rear fender in fact I find it fills in that empty space nicely. Only thing I’d ever change would be the mirrors and maybe add a better looking exhaust, but, zero issues with how the grom looks stock, so i probably will not be doing anything.

I’ve done 2500 mikes on mine and have zero mods.

2015 Honda Accord Hybrid

I bought a Honda that was involved in a minor accident. The guy that sold it to me said after the accident the code in the picture started to pop up. I’ve checked online or ways to fix it and I can’t find the right answer. I checked behind the Honda emblem and nothing. Not a single wire. Hopefully you guys have the answer.

2022 Grom KOSO Cam chain tensioner install gone wrong?

So I installed the KOSO Cam chain tensioner and now my bike just cranks and wont start. Ive checked timing a BUNCH and made sure valves are adjusted all good. Im thinking it is a flywheel key issue but my key appears fine and not sheared. Not sure what the problem is. I get fuel, spark, and my intake is fine. Any mechanics in here lol?

Grom super oil pump question

I am preparing my Grom for stunts and I just received my super oil pump from Japan. The takekawa oil pump usually comes with the tube that pulls oil from the rear of the crankcase and that is the one I actually ordered.

My package arrived today and I noticed that it doesn’t have the tube. Will this pump be sufficient for wheelies? I’m worried that I received the wrong pump and don’t want to risk seizing the engine.
