Recently moved, left the old antenna, looking for a new one

I recently moved about 1 mile (as a crow flies) from my previous house. On my previous house I had this antenna mounted on my roof: RCA Compact Outdoor or Attic Yagi HD TV Antenna with Super Long 75 Mile Range – Digital OTA Antenna for Clear VHF & UHF Reception.

On my brand new house, i don't have anything to mount to on the roof and don't want to drill holes. So I'm looking at mounting an antenna in my attic. I live on the north side of town, so the good news is I can get a directional antenna and point it towards the southeast and it will generally pick up all of the local tv antennas.

Questions:

  1. For a new antenna that will be in an attic, pointing through an OSB and Asphalt Shingle roof how can I best "boost" it?
  2. The attic is a long run from my basement server rack where my Tablo device sits. How does Coax do running about 60-80 feet? Am I better putting an outlet in the attic and putting the Tablo up there and running a cat6 ethernet the 60-80 feet down to my server rack in the basement?
  3. What antenna would you recommend for this? I need about 20 miles of directional range MAX.

Zooz motion sensor constantly detecting motion

I just setup a new Zooz ZSE70 800LR outdoor motion sensor. I mounted it to a tree in my backyard. It is detecting motion almost constantly. Its a sunny day just before Noon and no people or animals are in the yard. I am primarily wanting to use this for nighttime motion detection outdoors. Are there any sensitivity settings I should be playing with?

Home Assistant won't start after update

I did both a core and operating system update last night and now home assistant will not start. I'm running on a Canakit RasberryPi. I have access to the CLI through a USB cable and keyboard. I can gracefully shut it down, but when I unplug it and plug it back in, it takes forever to start. I will also add that I recently installed HAOS so that I could have integration to Hubitat and "HAOS boot partition" seems to be adding significant time to the HA startup and eventually fails to mount HAOS boot partition. HAOS overlay partition also fails. I'm 15 minute into the startup and it keeps trying to start things with HAOS and failing. Any tips?

Best Motion Sensor - Exterior, Z-Wave/Zigbee, Nighttime

I'm looking to mount a motion sensor about 100' from my house on a tree or fence. So it needs to be battery operated and use either Z-Wave or Zigbee. It needs to detect well at night and that is really the only time I would have it triggering something.

It would also be nice if it didn't pick up wind blowing a tree branch, but rather large objects like Humans.

Suggestions?

Hello everyone. I am in a sticky situation and need some help (and sympathy!). I have a new construction home and I ran cat6 wiring to all the windows in anticipation of using POE Shades.

I have two problems that I cannot remedy and I'm seeking a solution.

  1. Most regrettably, I didnt research cat6 cable like i should have and I ran CCA rather than copper.

  2. My wife just got a quote from a company that does blinds and she really likes their shades, but they only have a DC motor and not a POE motor. They connect wireless to a hub that I can connect to Home Assistant.

So I need to take not ideal cat6 cable and use it for power only, getting as much out of it as I can. I understand the POE Switch will determine which pair of wires to send power on (please correct me if I'm wrong here). The Shades use this connector (see photo) to supply power to the motor. So I need to choose which wires from the cat6 cable to put into the positive and negative side of this. I won't be using the cable for data at all. Can I double up the power wires? Any help would be appreciated. Please don't say "rip out the cable and replace it." I can't do that at this point.
