Signal attenuator - HDhomerun

Need some help.

I have an attic mounted antenna, and am pretty happy with my setup.

One issue making me crazy - my local CBS station is pegged at 100% signal strength and quality. During live sports and oddly gameshows, there is audio popping that seems to sync with audio peaks. (Cheering, etc). (It's happens on multiple TVs, even using VLC, no issue on other channels).

My only guess is that the signal is overwhelming the tuner. I tired a LTE filter (it's RF channel 32), added a 6db attenuator, and even switched antennas. Signal strength and quality are still pegged at 100%. Am I chasing a ghost, or should I try another attenuator?

What kind of antenna is this?

What is this mystery antenna with 8 elements? It is arrayed in like an 8-point star. I’m holding it at an angle by its mast on the lower right. This antenna used to be mounted via an offset mast extension directly under my large, ceiling-mounted Winegard antenna in the attic of my home. Both antennas were here when I moved in. This damaged antenna’s elements seemed to have been bent upwards (the antenna was mounted “upside down”) to create some headroom in this part of the attic and eventually 7 of the 8 elements broke off. It has no obvious markings or model numbers and may be of the same vintage as my 1960s Winegard Colortron that I’ve put back into use over 10 years ago since moving into this house. This damaged antenna’s elements are secured by rivets onto angled plastic “blocks” (or whatever they are called) that are themselves riveted to the mast.

Edit: more photos below. I just noticed the “Pat Pend”
and possibly a logo on one of the black plastic parts but I’ll have to get a closer look later.

Hot take avout content laws....

R rated movies should be on OTA, I loathe the fact the government does the job of a parent. Maybe there was a time when it was effective and meaningful. That era has long expired, and is ultimately holding OTA broadcasting back from wider adoption. People dont want to see overly sanitized versions of shows and movies. We as a society have on demand access to porn yet saying fuck or basic gore is to much for public airwaves....

I will get off my soap box, if I start a petition who will sign it?

Antenna Reception Bad All of a Sudden

Hey guys.

I've got a simple indoor antenna for the living room. I'm about ten miles from the tower and never had any issues, but all of sudden, starting last night, my reception has gotten really bad.

Does anyone know why this could be ? It's been a little warmer in the last day or two, not very cloudy at all.

Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated and I'm planning on moving the antenna higher, hopefully the attic, this weekend.

Just odd that I've never had any trouble until last night

ATSC 3.0 Starions no longer locked in Houston

You may have seen my previous post about Fox 26 in Houston removing DRM from their 3.0 broadcast. That left only KHOU and Telemundo (who are owned by the same ppl IIRC) and I noticed today I was able to get the Arsenal vs West Ham game on the 3.0 channel on Telemundo.. so I went to Rabbit Ears and it also is showing the same… no more DRM in Houston.

I see they are running a crawl saying they are going Off Air May 8th due to a ongoing breach of contract with Luken Communications.
