Which Br@hms piece sounds the most like Beethoven?

We all know what the most obvious choice is. So let's NOT choose Op. 68!

Next square: sounds like Haydn/is actually Schubert (was originally Mendelssohn/Rachmaninoff but since someone in the last post said the Scherzo there's rly no need is there?)

Which Mendelssohn piece sounds the most like Mozart?

I was really hoping we wouldn't have another repeat situation on our hands, which is why I was so close to picking the Nocturne. But votes are votes and who are we to mess with democracy? I think in the coming days I'll do a thing where any five squares can be replaced with a different piece.

Next square: sounds like Debussy/is actually Handel

Which Chopin piece sounds the most like Rachmaninoff?

Yayy I've been waiting for this square!

Next square: sounds like Mozart/is actually Mendelssohn

Which Haydn piece sounds the most like Chopin?

Psych it doesn't exist lol. Unless it did...

Next square: sounds like Schubert/is actually Stravinsky (psych that doesn't exist either lol. Unless it did...)

Which Beethoven piece sounds the most like Tchaikovsky?

Finally a Schumann piece makes it on here with an instrument that isn't just solo piano! This next square should be fun, if only because there's one piece I'm looking forward to being spammed in the comments.

Next square: sounds like Chopin/is actually Haydn

Which Schumann piece sounds the most like Rachmaninoff?

There were three preludes in Op. 104b, and OP didn't distinguish which one was the three hands one. So I'll just say they all count for this one. Oh yea I came back alive. Again. To finish this. Schumann time, baby!

Next square: sounds like Tchaikovsky/is actually Beethoven

*UPDATE so uhh turns out Op. 104b are Etudes not Preludes, the preludes are Op. 104a. And the first etude seems to be the three hands one. I'll fix that in the next post.

Which Mendelssohn piece sounds the most like Liszt?

Clarinet Quintet gets another square, and this time I don't think Br@hms would mind.

Next square: sounds like Rach/ is actually Schumann

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 4 months ago

Which Mozart piece sounds the most like Br@hms?

The 15th String Quartet wins for the last square! ...I guess. I don't hear it. And unless someone tells me otherwise I'm convinced it was String Quartet No. 14 misspelled. And also I'm certain Br@hms would kill you for saying there's a Schubert piece that sounds like both him and Stravinsky. Oh hey speaking of Br@hms here's a square about him again!

Next square: sounds like Liszt/is actually Mendelssohn

Which Schubert piece sounds the most like Stravinsky?

The underrated Andante Variations win as the Tchaikovsky sounding Haydn piece! Now I could do a square that's reasonably easy. But instead let's do another Stravinsky sounding piece square.

Next square: sounds like Br@hms/is actually Mozart

FINALLY IM FUCKING BACK! Now which Haydn piece sounds like Tchaik?

Not gonna explain why I keep forgetting any longer, just gonna move forward and power thru.

Next square: sounds like Stravinsky/is actually Schubert

Which Rachmaninoff piece sounds the most like Stravinsky?

I stalled until someone replied with a non-transcription in the comments. And then I forgot to follow through as I usually do. But anyway, which Rach piece radiates the most Strav energy? Their sounds are worlds apart, even though their ages are less than 10 years apart, but Sergei still showed up at Igor's LA house with a jar of honey, so subconsciously there's a piece that represents that wanting to impress.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Tchaikovsky/is actually Haydn

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Which Liszt piece sounds the most like Handel?

The last movement of the 27th Sonata wins! Today's square looks deceptively hard but I don't think it's nearly as hard as the "sounds like Liszt/is Handel" square, given that Liszt also wrote oratorios and other choral works late in life. In a different style and approach than Handel, yea, but a tangental connection can be made from there.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Stravinsky/is actually Rachmaninoff

Which Beethoven piece sounds the most like Schubert?

I'll be honest I was thinking of a completely different Orchestral Suite; if no one said anything I would've nominated the Badanerie from No. 2. But congrats to the G-string Air. Now we all know Schubert took heavy inspiration from Beethoven. Did Beethoven reciprocate that inspiration, or is there a piece by him that predicts Schubert?

The answer yes, absolutely yes.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Handel/is actually Liszt

Which Bach piece sounds the most like Tchaikovsky?

The Paganini Variations clear yesterday! Even though the commenter themselves thought the B Minor Rhapsody should've won, which after listening I am in agreement with. But the facts don't lie, and like the disgraced middle schooler Ben Shapiro once said, "Facts, umm, rock. Feelings stinky." Paraphrasing a bit.

This should be a fun next round, I have my ideas on what the winner will be but I'll keep my mouth shut.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Schubert/is actually Beethoven

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Which Brahms piece sounds the most like Liszt?

The finale of Mendelssohn's 6th quartet wins on account that it was the only one nominated! And I can see it honestly. Just as I can see the winning piece of this next round, I think I literally predicted it months ago lol.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Tchaikovsky/is actually Bach

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Which Mendelssohn piece sounds the most like Stravinsky? I guess.

I know we're not too excited for a near impossible square, so let's just take this time to celebrate the 14th Piano Sonata for winning the sounds like Beethoven square! I knew it'd win but I didn't wanna say anything. The winners mean more when I don't name them, go figure.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Liszt/is actually Brahms

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Which Mozart piece sounds the most like Beethoven?

Woohoo it's time for the square I'm sure everyone's been looking forward to!

Tomorrow's square, one no one has looked forward to: sounds like Stravinsky/is actually Mendelssohn

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Ah the wonderful times when I remember my password. But the shitty times when we have to talk about a Haydn-sounding piece. I mean it'll probably be easier than a Debssuy sounding Haydn piece but that doesn't mean it'll be generally easy.

Tomorrow, or uh, the the next square: sounds like Beethoven/is actually Mozart

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

I made this like over 24 hours ago but for some reason I'm not posting it until now. But yay for Scherzo in D Minor, and yay for whichever piece wins today, I'm guessing Trans Etude #3 but who knows.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Haydn/is actually Debussy

u/StanTheTalkingDog — 5 months ago

Ein feste burg wins by a hair, and I think it fits given that Felix adapted it as the final movement of his Reformation Symphony. Of course that piece wouldn't win for the sounds like Bach square, it could at least be a good runner-up for the sounds like Beethoven square.

Tomorrow's square: sounds like Schumann/is actually Liszt
