Tip to mid cut?
Are there any advantages to cutting the apex off in order to pot your cutting log style? I gather that sparing the primary growth point kicks off reestablishment much faster but I am more interested in base stability and encouraging more pups. If cutting the apex to plant as a log will significantly harm the cutting then I will just pot vertically and try log style another time when the opportunity presents itself, I would appreciate any advice as I am inexperienced and don’t really know what I should absolutely avoid when trying to grow cacti. The pictures are the cutting I received from my grandma, and the parent cactus that she has been growing since before I was born 18 years ago. Fun fact, the pictures show entirely new crown growth over the course of about 9 years. The original, 17ft tall, crown fell over in a rainstorm; everything depicted is reportedly grown from the original root system : )
