ID guesses? Sold as Copiapoa

Only description was Copiapoa and it was auspiciously cheap. Any guesses on what it actually is?

Opuntia Trees in Galapagos

We spent a week here and I was fascinated how these trees could take over on hills and in volcanic substrate. Trunks appear to have bark and a fibrous material inside.

Variegated Prickly Pear

I’ve never seen a variegated cactus before and this neighbor’s yard has 3!

I got these aztekium pups for basically free. Is there any chance of the larger ones rooting?

I’ll be grafting some of them, but I want to root the bigger ones

My collection of cacti, 30+ years old!

Here's my backyard collection of cacti. They moved with me about 30 years ago and some, including the barrel cactus, the columnar, and the echinopsis are older than me. The golden rain tail is a little sad because a drip irrigation sprinkler malfunctioned and it rotted a bit at one point. It's bouncing back though!

Am I losing it?

Took this beavertail prickly pear (Opunita basilaris) from my MIL yard in Phoenix to Wisconsin. It's been in a pot outside, I bring it in before it rains...usually. I forgot about it and we got 2" of rain.

These look like roots, can I repot with the roots in some cactus medium? Any other suggestions?

Spineless Prickly Pear

(Opuntia ellisiana) are easy to grow in North Central Texas. This specimen is growing into the fence behind it to support its weight. It will survive hard freezing, but not without some damage. The upper parts are prone to break off, but are easily replanted when the weather improves. Deer also will feed on it if other food is sparce.

HELP: How do I save her?

I recently repotted my cactus, Fluffy, and now she’s partly rotten. She doesn’t smell bad though, so maybe not completely rotten. Fluffy is 5 years old. She started growing another limb maybe last year. The limb is barely hanging on and when I put pressure, the gap on the body opens. The baby pic is from June 2021.

What’s the deal with Copiapoa?

Copiapoa seems like the “hot” genus in the cacti world over the past few years and I feel like I just don’t get it lol.

Some are kind of unique looking, but I’ve heard they are pretty finicky to care for (need very strict watering and soil) and grow extremely slow. And they cost so much now, relative to other cacti.

Sizable specimens on Etsy or at cacti expos go for hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, and even small nursery specimens are $80+.

Am I just missing out of the hype here or what?

My Gymnocalycium anisitsii bloomed today 🌸🌵

My Gymnocalycium anisitsii opened this gorgeous creamy-white bloom today. The green tint on the outer petals is so pretty, and there’s another bud getting ready to open.

Is this a common growth form for a crested unicorn cactus?

My crested Eulychnia castanea cv. varispiralis appears to have a different growth forms on either side, is that so? Do they usually do that?

Gymnocalycium daydream help

I got this little guy a month ago and watered a little over two weeks ago. I was thinking it looked shriveled so I checked the soil and it’s not yet dry.

I’m didn’t want to disturb it with the bud and all but I checked the root for the first time. Still slightly damp but the roots seemed surprisingly small and underdeveloped.

Wanted to seek out thoughts on whether the pictures and my description is normal, or is there something wrong I need to take care of?

I assume I should air dry the roots before repotting. If the roots are indeed too small, perhaps I need to cut the bud or the little pups loose?

Any input is appreciated!
