Do I keep trying for the same company?

I'm going to try to be as vague as possible but it's gonna be difficult given that the work this company does is extremely unique.

There's a company I love that does super immersive theatrical experiences. I've attended several of them and they always manage to blow me away. They post casting calls for new performers fairly frequently, and I've submitted every time, but nothing's ever come it. It's not a traditional auditon where you submit a self-tape or anything like that, so it's not like there's anything I could ask them for feedback on or do differently. It's also not something where I'm just not right for a specific character; the whole point is the character is kind of a blank slate that the performer brings their own thing to.

I just saw they posted another call on Playbill looking to switch up their current cast, and I'm debating just letting it go. As much as I'd love to work with them, I feel like there's nothing new I can tell them. If they haven't been interested, I'm not sure that would change now. If they ever happen to be casting for a different show, then I'll definitely try again, but it feels kind of pointless to keep throwing my name in this particular hat :/

Downvoted for replying normally?

I've been on this site for roughly 2.5 years now, and this is still one aspect of the culture I just can't wrap my head around. There have been so many times where I'll ask a question on a sub and reply to a particularly good or helpful answer with something like "gotcha, thank you," and for some reason that reply will get downvoted. I understand thanking someone might not be the most relevant addition to the conversation, but is it really worth going out of your way to downvote? I'm just trying to be nice to the people who help me.

TKTS Lost Boys seats?

I’m debating trying to go see The Lost Boys one more time this week before they win a bunch of Tony’s and it becomes even more expensive. I usually am able to get pretty good seats for shows from the TKTS booth in Lincoln Center, but occasionally I’ll wait in line only to find that the best they have is really far back it way off to the side.

I’ve heard for Lost Boys they only release front row tickets to people who rush at the theater: does anyone happen to know if they only release specific seats to TKTS or is it random? I’d rather not get up early and wait for an hour just to be disappointed. I don’t need front row, but anything between like 3rd-7th would be ideal.

This was my second time seeing the show and oh my god it was INCREDIBLE to feel the reactions to all the Tony noms in the room (Shoshanna Bean got like a full minute of entrance applause). Some very minor things did go wrong that I found fun:

After the vamps kill Pete and David does the creepy look to the audience with the blood dripping from his mouth, the four of them are supposed to descend. But the platform didn’t go down. Marko helped Pete up and they all just kinda walked offstage as the next scene was starting, but the actor playing Pete did more of a zombie walk in the opposite direction. for a second I thought Marko was gonna sling the body over his shoulders and carry him off, but I see why they didn’t do that lol. Idk if this was improvised or if they had a plan in place for if the platform ever decided not to work, but either way it was pretty smooth!

The other smaller thing that happened was that LJ picked up the baseball bat with a little too much force during Secret and I think broke or at the very least knocked over the tennis racket that was in the same box? I saw something flying, at first it kinda looked like he broke a chunk off the bat. Ali had to subtly pick up the racket and put it back on the table when he had his back to the audience. If anyone had a better view of that, lemme know?

So happy I got to go back to the Palace, and that Lost Boys is getting the love it deserves!

I want to try out for a classic Greek play translated by a modern still-living writer. I've literally never done Greek tragedy before unless you count 6th grade, which I only sort of do.

The casting breakdown just asks for a "classic monnologue," which is pretty vague. I thought I would just pick one from Antigone since that's one I'm more familiar with, but I have no idea what translation to choose from. I found a more classical-sounding one which I assume is an older and maybe more direct translation; and some with more modernized language that feel a little more natural.

I know the production I'm trying out for is definitely going to sound more modern, but would they still want to hear me do a more classic-sounding speech? This is a genre that I just don't have a lot of familiarity with the way I do with Shakespeare, so I'm not sure what people typically expect.

I took a ”beginner“ dance class at Steps back in October and was highly disappointed. I guess I misunderstood what beginner means to them, but the class was way too fast-paced and was clearly for people who had previous dance training. I also had a very unfortunate experience with the staff so I’m not exactly interested in the basics class they apparently have sometimes.

My college’s theatre department let me down in a lot of ways: the lack of dance training being one of them. I feel like I need to spend a lot of time playing catch-up. What are some places in the city that have adult dance classes for people with little to no experience? I’ve heard good things about Alvin Ailey but I’m curious if there are any others.

Found a call specifically asking for an Irish folk song and I'm having trouble thinking of one that could work, let alone one I'll be able to find sheet music for. I feel like The Parting Glass is the obvious choice and I'd like to go for something a little more unique. I'm considering The Foggy Dew but that might be a bit too complex and I don't have a ton of time to learn it to the best of my ability.

Am I overthinking this? It's so weird that I can't even really find a good list of Irish folk songs. All the ones I know are either meant to be sung by a group of people or are funeral songs.
