Need urgent help with Payoneer address verification – about to lose a job offer

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar and can offer some advice because I’m honestly at a loss.

I’m about to start working with a company that requires me to receive payments through Payoneer. The problem is that my Payoneer account has been stuck in address verification for almost two weeks.

When I first created my account, I entered my address including the street name. However, the bank statement I later submitted as proof of address does not include the street name. Apart from that, all the other information matches exactly (name, city, province, etc.).
Payoneer rejected my document and stated that the information was incomplete or that the file was not original. The document I submitted is an official bank statement issued directly by my bank, so I don’t understand why it was rejected.

I’ve contacted Payoneer support multiple times over the past two weeks. I’ve explained that this situation is extremely urgent because my employment depends on having a verified Payoneer account. Unfortunately, the support I’ve received has been very limited, and now it seems they’ve stopped responding altogether.
I’m becoming really stressed because I could potentially lose this opportunity due to delays in setting up my payment method.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Were you able to update your address or get your documents approved? Is there a faster way to reach Payoneer support or escalate the case?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SEA people living in China: What has your experience been like?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Southeast Asia and have been considering relocating to China in the future.

While doing research online, I've come across comments suggesting that Southeast Asians are sometimes looked down upon compared to East Asians. At the same time, I fully understand that online comments don't represent an entire country of over a billion people, and the internet often brings out the loudest and most extreme voices.

Because of that, I'd love to hear from Southeast Asians who have actually lived, studied, or worked in China.

I'm particularly interested in hearing about how you've been treated by locals, whether you've encountered any stereotypes or prejudice, how welcome you've felt in daily life, and whether your real-life experiences matched what you expected before moving there.

I'm not trying to start a debate or make generalizations about China or Chinese people. I'm simply trying to get a more balanced and realistic perspective from people with firsthand experience, as I'm seriously considering making the move myself.

I'd appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences, as well as anything that surprised you after living there.

Thanks in advance for sharing your stories. 🙂

Master’s Degree in Chinese or English?

Hi it’s me again. I’m thinking about pursuing a master’s degree in China, but I need to make an important decision: should I study in Chinese or English?

Most universities require HSK 5 or HSK 6 for Chinese-taught programs. To be honest, my Chinese isn’t that good. I completed HSK 4 last year, and one of my biggest problems is that I’m too shy to speak Chinese (I know, that’s on me!).

However, one of the main reasons I want to study in China is to improve my Chinese. I’ve always heard that living in a country and using the language every day is one of the fastest ways to become fluent. So I’m not only interested in the degree itself. I also want the experience of improving my language skills.

The thing that worries me is whether I’ll be able to fully understand the course content if it’s taught in Chinese.

My boyfriend is Chinese, and he shared his own experience. When he went to Australia for his master’s degree, his English was only around an A2 level. By the time he returned home, he had become very fluent. He thinks I could do something similar with Chinese.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you choose to study in your target language even when you weren’t fully comfortable with it yet? Looking back, would you make the same decision again?

Ps: I want to pursue MBA or Master’s in Finance btw

Is the ESL industry becoming oversaturated, or is this happening across other industries as well?

Lately, I’ve noticed more and more people entering the ESL market, especially online. New tutors seem to appear every day, while many teachers say it’s becoming harder to find students, maintain their rates, or stand out from the competition.

This made me wonder: is ESL uniquely oversaturated, or are we seeing the same trend in other industries too? With remote work, social media, AI, and easier access to online businesses, it feels like many fields are becoming increasingly competitive.

For those working in ESL, education, tech, marketing, design, sales, or any other industry. what has your experience been? Do you think your industry is becoming oversaturated, or is the market simply evolving and requiring different skills?

How’s life in Hainan?

I’ve learned quite a bit about Hainan from my boyfriend (but he’s not a local too), and it honestly seems like a wonderful place. It has a tropical climate, island vibes, good food, and a relatively developed infrastructure. I was also surprised to learn that Sanya is often called the “Hawaii of China.” On top of that, Hainan’s free trade policies make it even more interesting.

What puzzles me is that I rarely hear people talk about Hainan, even on Chinese social media. I’m considering moving there in the future, so I’d love to hear from people who currently live there or have lived there before.

What’s daily life like in Hainan, especially in Haikou and Sanya? I’d really appreciate any insights on the cost of living, job opportunities, transportation, weather, social life, and the overall pros and cons of living there. Thank you!
