Video Review - Lumix L10 in the hands of cinematic artists Cam Mackey & company
While many reviews of the new Lumix L10 cover the specs, and some very much in-depth (ie. PetaPixels review), artist CamMackey expresses his thoughts as cinema - using the camera for both stills and video. The video was part of a series of videos with collaborators TerryWarfield and LegendaryAlex.
Myself, I have only used the original LX100, and the L10 is very much its spiritual successor.. As a camera, I felt the LX100 was just a tad small, making it a touched cramped for its controls and handling. I may have felt differently if I got a hand grip for it, as that helped my Fuiji X-E3 significantly, and I now have it on the dimunity Fujiflm X half. CamMackey actually did an excellent live video on the X half, and some of the same thinking could definitely apply to the L10 to an extent. In essence, the L10, and many other compact all-in-one cameras, are not for the spec-oriented, 'tech heads', or for specific pro and enthusiast applications.
Of course, professional results can be had, especially when those results are more about movement, spontaneity, rhythm and form. The L10 gives up little. Sure at 1.7 on the wide-end you won't get as much blur, but on the telephoto, you definitely can.
Great to see that it is a surprisingly great video camera. For Lumix, the L10 will be a win in several ways. The LX100 III was a camera I've wanted ever since letting my LX100 go back in 2017, replacing it with Fuji. I can't justify it right now, need to fix a Fuji X-E3 to go along with my main X-H1.
