Piececool Nine Heavens Boat as a total beginner

Hi!

Just got the nine heavens boat as a gift. I have never built any metal puzzle in my life and just built a couple of plastic models when I was a kid more than 40 years ago.

I have no clue if I would have the patience to build it.

On top of that I have hardly any tools. I watched this video https://youtu.be/JULGbwPYAos?si=Djq0PXZkVcnMOIT3 that suggests "optional" but very convenient tools.

So my questions:

- Is it a good idea to start with this model?

- Would you advise to start with something smaller to get used to the construction? I'm pretty scared of doing something wrong that would mess up the whole thing

- Any other advice?

Thanks a bunch!

I'm playing guitar and I'm using Ardour on a laptop as DAW for proper recording. It works perfectly and I'm very happy with this setup.

However when practicing, this setup becomes a bit too complicated. My practice routine includes:

  • Metronome + guitar
  • Backing track (audio player, firefox, sptify,...) + guitar
  • Guitar pro/Tuxguitar + guitar
  • External microphone + guitar

I'm able to record all these configuration with Ardour, but I spend far too much time in switching the from one configuration to another, even with templates and I loose focus in my practice having to jump to my laptop, rewire so I'm looking for a more efficient setup, that would allow:

  • Switching very easily from one configuration to another
  • Adjust the volume of the different tracks afterward so I don't have to make adjustments before recording
  • Save the output for listening later and ideally being able to adjust the tracks volumes
  • Ideally, touchscreen friendly so I can use it on a tablet

Looking at all DAW available, they are all very good, but I'd like something simpler that would just allow to start the recording for a given configuration and do the volume adjustments and listening at a later stage. I'm OK with terminal applications, bash/python scripts or any other fancy approach.

Thanks for any suggestion!
