Dawn of War Onslaught restocked at Target
For those who aren’t familiar, Dawn of War Onslaught is a standalone board game that GW exclusively sells at big box retailers; in the US I believe it is just Target although some similar products are available at Barnes & Noble. The box is amazing for new Salamanders players because it’s just $50 but includes the full Honoured of the Chapter sprue that GW sells for $170 on their website. This sprue includes:
- A squad of 3 Eradicators (full kit is $60 but this set doesn’t have the multi-melta so let’s say $55+), a strong unit to begin with, the synergy with Vulcan He’stan takes them from A to S tier.
- A squad of 3 Blade Guard Vets ($60). Typically a max brick of 6 BGV is run with Adrax to leverage his buff.
- 3 Characters (~$100): a Judiciar, a Chaplain, and a Bladeguard Ancient. These can be run as themselves, more BGV, or kitbashed/converted to key characters and units. One extreme budget setup kitbashes a Judiciar as He’stan, a Chaplain for Adrax, and runs the other 4 characters as Company Heroes
Altogether two boxes of Dawn of War Onslaught and some Infernus (out of the soon to be OOP Starter Set or ebay) can, for as little as $150, give you 800+ pts of infantry that forms the core of many Salamanders lists.
Even if you’re not able to get the box, if GW’s printed a decent amount of them this round, the secondary markets should see a good supply of these units at low prices.
