How is my salamanders friend getting +1 to wound on overwatch?

Hey guys I have a buddy that I play with pretty regularly who runs salamanders. He keeps over watching me with his land raider redeemer and doing insane damage. I get that it has two flamers that get D6 + 3 hits but they’re only S 6 and he is melting some really tough T9+ units with them. Pretty much everytime he shoots the land raider he tells me it is +1 to would whatever he’s shooting at (even on my turn in overwatch). I am just trying to figure out how he’s getting that even on my turn as I don’t think his oath of moment is what’s doing it. I don’t play space marines so I’m taking a lot of what he says at face value. His over watching is less of a problem when I play a shooting army but with melee armies like emperors children it feels like he is able to really lock me out of the game.

My 18th so far

After finishing the marines from the Leviathan, Dark Imperium, and Know No Fear boxes, it's family photo time!

There are 2165 points here:

  • 6x Aggressors
  • 1x Ancient (Dark Imperium)
  • 1x Apothecary Biologis (Leviathan)
  • 1x Ballistus Dreadnaught (Leviathan)
  • 2x Captain in Gravis Armour (Dark Imperium / Know No Fear)
  • 1x Captain in Terminator Armour (Leviathan)
  • 10x Hellblasters (Dark Imperium / Know No Fear)
  • 6x Inceptors (Dark Imperium / Know No Fear)
  • 10x Infernus Marines (Leviathan)
  • 15x Intercessors (Dark Imperium / Know No Fear)
  • 1x Librarian in Terminator Armour (Leviathan)
  • 2x Lieutenants (Dark Imperium)
  • 1x Lieutenant with combi weapon (Leviathan)
  • 5x Sterngaurd Veterans (Leviathan)
  • 5x Terminators (Leviathan)

I know I'm missing some heavy hitters and transport options, but those are in the pile of shame and on the list to complete. Talking of which, I still have 1705 points of built models to paint and another 2105 points to build then paint (and this is before the ~750 points of marines in the Armageddon set!), but I'm finally making good progress on clearing the backlog and slaying that grey! We'll see where I am at the end of the year...

Salamander terminator sergeant veteran

This is the first terminator I have been painting in my first 5 man squad, out of the 15 other terminators that I still need to paint. I’m in for a lot of back problems in the future lol

Chief Librarian Vel'cona

Hey everyone, looking for some constructive criticism for my kitbashed crucible character, our Chief Librarian Vel'cona.

Based on Castellan Crowe, changed a few bits, I'm planning on doing some lightning on/off the thunder hammer, just psyching myself up to it 🤣

Would like some input on this list I put together for 11th

Gravis Captain with Aggressors, put in Land Raider

Immolator Librarian with 10 man Infernus

Vulkan with Company Heroes, put in Impulsor

Term. Chaplain and Assault Terms in Deep Strike

Infiltrators to hold home/screen for Deep Strikes

(Any benefits of putting the Scouts in Impulsor?)

Veteran Terminator Sa'kan?

I've been reading "imperial armor: volume ten" and in it I found a page that shows sa'kan as a veteran terminator. Is that just a concept or something gw got rid of?

A Salamander to guard a Salamander

Just wanted to make my last non- Warhammer post. The Salamander i was gifted from a lovely human on here, watching out for his live Salamander brethren, making sure no harm comes to him. Yall are the best community to have accidentally posted on, and opened up a new hobby for me as well (cuz clearly I needed another one!l! Thank you!

First time "kitbashing"! Is this good (I think this is kitbashing?)

First of all, Idk what "kitbashing" really mean but I think cutting of the sprues, glue it together and apply thick Astrogranite to it means this is technically "kitbashing" right?

Anyways, I want to ask the community how did I do with (whatever this is) my Bladeguard Ancient and The Forge Father Vulkan He'stan?

I'm gonna paint the Bladeguard Ancient as someone who are standing in front of the lava pit, basically aura-farm in front of whats left of an Iron Warriors.

For the Forge Father Vulkan He'stan, well just a simple standing on the edge of a short cliff in front of lava pool type of thing.

So yeah just that. Why do you guys think? What would you guys change or add if you can?

[Minis] My first Dornian Salamander and WIP Demon Primarch Vulcan

With the supposed confirmation that demons will continue to exist as an army in 11th, I decided to pull the trigger and start on my dornian heresy salamanders! My plan is to build it up so I can run it as either generic CSM, or as Shadow legion chaos demons, with of course, belakor being demon Primarch Vulcan!

Start

Starting my foray into the 18th, just in time to return to Armaggeddon! Been agonizing over what bases to give them. Have a bunch of lighter dead-colored static grass and an applicator, so I've been trying to make that work. Otherwise pretty happy with with my tictacs and misc characters so far.

Latest Salamander. Thoughts?

I've applied some shades, tried getting the edging done ... What do we think?

I'm actually quite proud of this one.

New to Salamanders

Hello brothers!

I am about to step into playing salamanders and need some advice.

Besides Adrax and He'stan, what are my must include for 1000 points?

You shall use the Dewey Decimal System!

Hot on the heals of my finished Ballistus Dreadnaught, the Librarian in Terminator Armour from the Leviathan box is also done! I've now completed all the Space Marines from that release, plus those in the Know No Fear and Dark Imperium 8th edition starter sets (I'll get some 'family photos' up over the next few days). Have a few more in-progress figures to finish off over the next couple of weeks so I can clear the workbench for the Armageddon release.

My first shot at basing

Finally chose to base my Heavy Intercessor Sergeant, didn't come out as good as I hoped but it was a good first try, in my books

My wife asked why I have "so many dice," so I walked her through an example of 10 Infernus Marines shooting....Ive never rolled this well for number of shots during a game in my life.

Would have been 54 shots (Immolator) if done during an actual match. It never happens when you actually need it.

FML.
