My wife asked me why I'm paying 2 to grow a1.28 lettuce. I had no good answer.

Title basically says it all. She did the math. She knows the farmers market price. She looked at me with that "we need to talk about your hobbies" face.

I mumbled something about "freshness" and "knowing where your food comes from" but honestly it sounded weak even to me.

So... what's the actual comeback here? What do you tell people when they ask why you're spending more to grow it than to buy it? Because I need ammunition before she checks the credit card statement.

About to buy my first Gardyn — how do I not mess up the seed pod choices?

Hey r/Gardyn**! First-timer looking for seed pod advice**

I'm about to pull the trigger on my first Gardyn and trying to figure out the seed situation. After browsing the store, I'm stuck on how people actually buy their pods:

  • Bulk order to stock up?
  • Cherry-pick one at a time?
  • Build a custom bundle?

And more importantly — how do you decide what to grow? The choices are overwhelming.

For those who've been at this a while: what are your must-have pods (the ones you always reorder), and anything you regret buying? Any first-timer tips appreciated!

Thanks in advance 🌱
