Most talk about American DDs revolves around them being utility gunboats with long smoke. Rarely do they ever get respect as a torp boat, especially with the forever reload times. These four found out the hard way that Monaghan is a torp threat too.
They have no power here. Sorry Janwei, but this kamikaze move only worked because I knew you couldn’t do it. I give you much respect for trying anyway.
Weird question, but recently it seems like many, if not most, of the other ships in my matches do not have a fleet designation. Up until now, I would say it was rarer to find a non-fleet ship. Did something change? Or is it just me?
A torpedo storm that is. Wonder what those townspeople were thinking about this battleship trying to enter their humble fishing port.
That feeling when you’re playing ranked as a DD and your two BB teammates are dead within the first three minutes of the match; with almost no damage to the reds.
What’s the best ship of the three pack this update? For reference, I typically play DDs. Almost never play cruisers and sometimes play BBs. I’m just not familiar with the Navarin.

I know gunboats are meta right now and there’s no more gunboat than Friesland. She’s fun to play with because that DPM is out of this world, despite no torps. It’s just very annoying because without torps, Friesland is very dependent on supportive team play. You can usually take the initial cap with her, pull back and help take on some red ships. Other than that you’re pretty much a spotter unless you get a DD or cruiser alone behind an island. Most players probably don’t realize she’s different from other DDs and can’t stealth-torp ships at a distance. Friesland can tear up a BB with her guns, but it’s pretty much only going to happen from behind smoke. Not the best scenario for when your team all hides behind islands (and won’t shoot anything for fear of getting spotted). Anyway, that’s my rant.
TL;DR: Friesland can spot, or it can shoot, but it can rarely do both for long without getting focused. Thank you.

Sorry for the long vid, but I figured it would be stupid to show the last 30s… This was the closest match I’ve had in a long time. I got very lucky in spots and spent two whole minutes dodging air strikes trying to take out the carrier prior to this (I had about 500 health since about 5 minutes left). Matches like this remind me why I love the game. This was fun!
P.S. I can’t believe that last red DD didn’t open up on me. But I’m sure I’ve frozen like that before.
Right now my standard average XP is 1237 with a 48% WR and a 1.06 K/D (I know k/d means next to nothing). I’m only at 3500 battles and my first, say 1000, were half-hearted attempts to play before I learned any strategy. How realistic is it to carry a 1500 average XP? Is that only the top-tier players holding that or am I just wayyy behind the curve? I know I’m still not the best player I can be and still make stupid mistakes. Also, I never div up so I’m at the mercy of the matchmaking gods. And before I get the comments, yes I know it’s about playing to enjoy the game. I like a little competition with myself to beat my personal best and I’m just curious about the stats. TIA Captains!
My teammate went full Leeroy Jenkins at the start of the match and left me facing two boats with pretty much full health. I thought I was done, but Velos’ homing torps had other ideas.
I love it when the red team hangs out together.
A 6-kill Kraken with 42k damage. I know it’s T4, but still… I’ll take the win though.
Seems wrong to kill Independence so close to July 4th, but it was too juicy an opportunity to pass up.

About 45 seconds into the match I got hit with a no-spot random barrage. I wonder if that captain was as surprised as I was. I was zoned out until this point.
This seems to be the typical experience in ranked lately. Kept the red ships spotted the whole match (minus the DD) and put up 127k damage. Still lost the match. BBs sitting behind islands not firing…
Cool finish to the match, almost synchronized kills of the red ships to finish it. (Wasn’t a great round on my part, but fun video)
