Star Trek Collab

What's the absolute must-have from the current Star Trek collaboration?

I've heard a lot about the Borg Queen and how she can be used on the Yamato or other battleships.

Is there anything else worth considering?

I don’t understand how this was a Dev strike, but I ain’t complaining

I got the chance for a nasty flank on this cruiser who was shooting at my battleships. I didn’t expect them to sit here and take it lol

How much damage should i do on average?

I recently unlocked my first tier 7 bb (vittorio veneto) and i’d like to know how much damage should i deal on average at tier 7 to call it a decent/good/exceptional game. I saw my results getting better but i’d like to understand if it’s because i’m getting good or an higher tier simply means more damage even with poor performance.

Returning Veteran player

I haven’t been playing WOWSL for 2-3 months and I love the game. I felt genuinely burnt out after 7 years of playing and I enjoy it. After a while, it felt repetitive, and I started getting into other games that were a breath of fresh air. I know, I missed the Russian DD campaign last month and I want to know how well the last campaign ship and this campaign is in term of performance. I noticed Thunderer is prized as a marathon ship and is the hype surrounding that ship warranted? I feel disconnected from WOWSL and the community and I am ready to get back into the game. I also wish to know what I miss about the ship's changes. If anyone can fill me in that would be deeply appreciated. I sincerely hope you are all doing well and I will see you on the high seas.

Why is Siegfried so sought after?

Basically just the title as a whole.

I'm not a big German ship guy so I don't really get the hype for most of them.

From what I can tell it's basically just a fairly tanky large cruiser with Bismarck guns at T7?

To me it mostly seems like it's sought after because you can't get it "normally" and have to roll it out of crates most of the time unless you got it in the original campaign.

Anyways I just got it out of like a spring crate or one of them (I had like 20 I opened at once) and was wondering why ya'll like her and what I should try.

Worst Premium Ship?

I recently got a premium ship and wow, does it feel bad. It just made me wonder, what does everyone else think are the worst premium ships? I’m guessing there are a few unique ones like the one I’m about to describe below:

I recently got the Mikasa and WOW, does it feel bad! It’s a tier 2 ship, I understand, but I don’t see how even it’s mother could love it. It’s a Tier 2 Japanese “cruiser” that plays like a barge with a couple artillery pieces placed on it. It’s hilarious because for a T2 cruiser the Main Battery ranking is a 50 so I thought it would be a house.

It boasts 2x2 305 mm cannons that couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn made entirely of magnets. The 22 second reload time ensures you will not miss frequently, at least.

It has a scorching top speed of 18 knots and takes it’s sweet, plodding time to get there.

It’s only redeeming quality? It’s hard to see at 8.6 km. Which would make it a nice ramming boat if it could travel faster than a lost beer can.

What other hilariously bad ships do we have out there? All tiers welcome for the punching!

USS New Jersey (BB-62) is coming

World of Warships PC has announced that the last of the Iowa sisters is coming to the game at a later date.

You should see the comments in the subreddit guys.

According to the people over there, this is the beginning of the end for WOWS and/or WG. They even speculate that this happens because of how WoT Heat has flopped.

Just thought it was interesting to see how people reacted

I definitely should have used my torps but I thought I didn't need them. Glad I use AP in my Akizuki

Definitely got lucky with the cruiser being a Harrbin and the torp RNG being in my favor. Definitely something to learn from

WoWS Builds Update! – New site, no ads, cleaner records, and a Comparison Tool I hope you'll like!

Hey everyone – long time no see,

I've been heads-down on WoWS Builds for a while and it's finally time to share some updates.

TL;DR: New site — faster, cleaner UI. Ads are gone for good, site is now 100% member-supported. Records got a big cleanup pass, Biggest new feature: a Ship Comparison tool that plots any two metrics against each other, across classes, tiers, and nations.

1. The site got a full overhaul

https://preview.redd.it/3j6l00sh29bh1.png?width=2284&format=png&auto=webp&s=e334ac34f61b3a680388aab27cd7375193e7f4b7

New layout, faster page loads, and a UI that's more intuitive instead of something you have to learn. If it's been a minute since you've been on the site, it's going to feel like a different place (in a good way, I hope!)

2. Ads are gone. For good.

I hate ads. They slowed the site down, I had no control over what was shown, and made the whole experience worse, so I ripped them out entirely. The only benefit was they helped cover the cost of hosting / verifications / etc.

That said, WoWsBuilds is now 100% member-supported. Huge thank you to everyone who's already a paying member ($19/year) — you're the reason this is possible.

3. Records cleanup + smarter submission scanning

I did a big cleanup on the records database — removed a ton of duplicates, cleaned up Arena records, and upgraded the AI that scans new submissions before they go live. The goal is to make the records on this site something you can actually trust, which I wasn't delivering on recently. There's still more cleanup to do, but this was a major step toward making the data reputable instead of just plentiful

4. The big one — the new Comparison Plot

https://preview.redd.it/7yjkfhasw8bh1.png?width=1924&format=png&auto=webp&s=7605e0141bed5b6b91f6c92ad5fd9da5ebcb78bc

This is the feature I'm most excited about, and honestly the reason this update took as long as it did.

Here's how it actually works: pick a class and tier (say, Tier VIII Cruisers), then set what goes on each axis — any two metrics, like Hitpoints, AP DPM, HE DPM, damage records, and XP records. The plot drops every ship in that class/tier onto the chart so you can see exactly where each ship falls relative to the whole field. You can search for a specific ship, or filter down by nation if you just want to compare one navy's lineup.

Some use cases to get you started:

See a whole tier at a glance. Set the class to Cruiser, tier to VIII, and axes to Hitpoints vs. AP DPM, and every Tier VIII cruiser in the game shows up on one chart. You can immediately see who's trading survivability for burst damage and who's doing neither well. The ships clustered low-left are the ones that look mediocre on paper and just aren't standing out on either stat.

XP as the tiebreaker. Two ships can have similar damage records but very different XP – plotting DPM (or any input metric) against XP records shows you which ships are converting output into games actually won and contributed to, versus which ones are padding damage in games that don't matter.

Finding outliers. Because you're plotting the whole field at once, the ships that break the trend line jump out visually...the cruiser with mediocre HE DPM but disproportionately high damage records, for example. Those outliers are usually the most interesting ships to actually dig into and figure out why.

Basically: if you've ever wondered "does X stat actually matter, or is it just a good-on-paper number," this is the tool to answer it yourself instead of taking someone's word for it..

---

Let me know if you run into any bugs or have feature requests. Thanks again to everyone supporting the site – this wouldn't exist without you.

New Player, seeking guidance.

Hey everyone! New player here, starting out with French and Italian cruisers and destroyers. I’ve only really actively been playing and grinding for a little bit, but I could use some guidance about some initial observations so far.

1Based on very preliminary research, it seems like Italy and France maybe weren’t the most beginner friendly nations to start with… but also whatever lol I like playing “minor nations” in these military games. In any case, I’m having a hard time figuring out the “play styles”?

I’m only up to tier 4 so far. Initial impressions:

  1. I get the idea behind the whole “French destroyers have big guns” schtick, vaguely reminiscent of Chinese light tanks from WoT. That said, I’m having a tricky time with the Jaguar; it’s taking a long time figuring out what the 130mm guns do and do not work well against. At least the big fat HE shells basically work on everything… but like, do the AP shells for French destroyers just categorically have a hard time with things like heavy cruisers and battleships?

  2. To that end, is there much of a schtick at all to the Italian destroyers? I’m not having a bad time with them, but… what really separates them from anyone else’s destroyers? The SAP shells are cool… but also they just don’t have much firepower to really take advantage of that?

  3. Are Italian cruisers essentially hard counters to enemy destroyers and light cruisers? The SAP shells work beautifully on them but I haven’t found much else that they’re very good at, other than running.

  4. Are French cruisers essentially analogous to French mediums from WoT? I’m not on the “big gun” line yet, but the basic gimmick I think I’ve noticed with them is “fast, fragile ships with a lot of guns that fire quickly”. Is that essentially right?

To that end, my final questions is; where else can I find good info about this game? Most of the info I try to find on specific lines or specific ships concerns the PC versions, and I’ve gathered that Legends differs quite a bit from the PC versions in some cases? Like the PC version, SAP shells from Italian battleships apparently do d!ck-all damage to destroyers for… whatever reason? My vague understanding is that the regular version of WOWS has a lot more “weird” stuff like that?

Thanks in advance!

Unbelievably passive game play.

What in the world is going on since the update this week. I’ve never seen such weak and timid game play in my life. As a brawler main it makes it absolutely impossible because every single match is either ultra passive or everyone just abandons their flanks.

As a 5 year vet I’m aware this has always been and issue but holy crap it’s unbearable right now
