Why is it so hard to rank up commanders?

I’ve been playing for about 5ish months now and I’m struggling to understand why commander ranking isn’t considered in match making. If the developers are going to make commander progression cost weeks worth of play just to get your commander up to 11, then why put me in lobbies with level 16 ranked commanders who probably have much higher win rates etc etc. Also why TF does EVERYTHING COST SO MUCH MONEY. Im spent so much actual money on this game and have BARELY been able to get 5 commanders to level 11. AND NOT EVEN THE CORRECT COMMANDERS FOR THE SHIPS THAT I HAVE. What I need to know is: A - How do I obtain more promotion orders and B - Are all of these level 16s just people who have been playing since the Ice Age? Or have they also poured ridiculous amounts of money into this game that will inevitably make you want to smash your face into a wall?

How to deal with randoms?

Rant. How do you deal with randoms? It’s like every game we have captains abandoning flanks and cruising the map border? Destroyers, cruisers, and battleships just cruising the perimeter of the map or 70 percent of the team grouping together and zerging a cap point. Played 10 games after work today and every game my entire team just groups up and zergs a single flank together or just cruises the absolute perimeter of the map

A little FDR gameplay!

I'm really enjoying the FDR. It's very unique in its game play and actually feels like it can withstand LT AA fire. Planes are slow but can take a beating.

I've spec'd into HE bomb damage, plane toughness, and plane regen/return speed.

Vuk worth playing?

Sup guys, got a question.
I got a couple of commanders to upgrade and only 300 PO’s.
In the pirate event i got Vuk and the pirate commander, im a big fan of secondary bb’s with torps, but realistically speaking ill be upgrading commander for only Vuk and Lungdunum, and im not sure of he is worth it. I still have Borg Queen, and AL Cheshire in line to upgrade, and i can use them in more than two ships.

TL;DR: Pirate commander worth upgrading for the Vuk?

Bizarre match in my Gearing. But ended up with an improbable win.

It started off innocent enough, with a dev strike on a BB. Capped a couple points. Ambushed another Gearing for a quick kill. Then things went south. Started losing teammates. At about 5 min left it was 3 blue vs 4 red and I lost both torpedo batteries and had low health. Soon it became 2 blue vs 4 red and our only hope was for caps and winning on points. I played a little ring-around-the-Rosie with battleships and was able to get two more caps, while also scoring defends, along with my last teammate, on the Reds trying to cap positions. Thankfully time ran out with us up 30 points as they were capping their 3rd base. You can’t feel much more naked than captaining a Destroyer with no torps, little health , and no smoke lol. But it was one of the most satisfying wins I’ve had.

Massachusetts or Alabama

As the name suggests, I'm looking at grabbing my first xp ship, and I'm stuck between the 2. I've got Lee at 16 with 3 stars ready to go. Which one would be better to grab first, because the other one will be the second.

Didn't think this was going to be number 555

An unexpected ship for number 555 but will take it none the less. Yes, I can't decide on what to buy with the steel. Was waiting for something OP - maybe the FDR carrier? I'm mainly DD and BB player - cruisers are still tough for me even after 20,000 battles.

"Realism" idea

Random thought, what if we didn't know what ships were on the Red team until they were spotted?

Hear me out. At the start of the match, the player list just has tier, type, and player name. The ship name is blank or grey-ed out until it has been spotted. Would add a bit of realism (intel assesses the team has X level of capabilities but specifics are unknown until they're visually confirmed) and possibly force more real-time strategy changes. We all know the Blue team doesn't use strategy but a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut.

Bonus idea: once spotted, an icon of the ship type that spotted it would show up on the player list. Was it a BB or DD that spotted that Red destroyer?

Small change but could add some extra gameplay while grinding. Thoughts?

Monaghan is a T5 beast

Most talk about American DDs revolves around them being utility gunboats with long smoke. Rarely do they ever get respect as a torp boat, especially with the forever reload times. These four found out the hard way that Monaghan is a torp threat too.

Anyone ever randomly think about Tbull?

Its a shame how it all ended, his videos were great and he taught me a lot about how to play this game when i was just starting out.
Even if he dont post any more i hope he still plays.

Tier VII Ranked 3v3 — What’s Your Go-To Lineup?

For the fleets that actually run 3-man divisions, I’m curious:
What’s your #1 Tier VII 3v3 lineup for Ranked?
Drop the three ships you’d start with and, if you want, explain why you think the combo works so well.
I’m especially interested in lineups built around survivability, focus fire, and securing the first kill rather than just individual ship strength.
Let’s see what everyone is running 👀⚓

Aki acquisition

I got the Aki but i dont want to give too much information because it appears that posting the method of obtainment is prohibited in this subreddit but i have a few questions

I should start off by saying i started this game roughly a month ago..

My highest tech tree is VII and its a japanese cruiser..

I just got this hybrid ship and im wondering how to play it?

Ive never played anything with 460mm cannons, online it says its accurate but id like anecdotal experiences that reinforce this information, if possible

This is my first legendary tier ship and im not sure i want to even play it right now as i would probably get steamrolled again and again. That being said i would appreciate any tips and tricks on how to utilize this ship for when i do actually play it.

Also i have the Ise and im wondering if playing that for a little while would be a good precursor to the Aki, and allow me to understand the specific mechanics of ships like this..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ranked Radar Plymouth

To the absolute chad that recommended running radar instead of smoke on Plymouth for ranked. I tip my cap good sir. Not sure if I enjoy it as much as Rodney but it’s an easy credit farm and incredibly fun.

Don't like losing!!!

Anyone else have a perfect winrate in standard on a ship?

I've only played Thunderer a handful of times since I unlocked it last week, and won every game... I know a handful of losses will likely follow!

I know it's irrational and silly... But I don't want to lose my 100% so I've held off playing it since! 🤣

(And yeah I know losing is part of the game, I'm used to it and expect to lose 50% of the time. It's kinda like I just don't wanna scratch my new car). 🙃

If you ain't got a perfect winrate.. Which ship do you perform best with? 🧐

Certain ships need Dispersion upgrades and some need Grouping.

There are a fair few accuracy commanders in the game.
How or what makes one decide whether its more beneficial to increase the grouping or dispersion for ships?
For eg BBs of japan/germany/italian will benefit more from one than the other. But how to figure that out?

See it's getting reassuringly tribal out there...

Now that the modern era player backgrounds are a thing.

Anyhoo, anyone else think the maps are a lot less washed out/ the haze has dissipated?
