I’m so tired of being told it’s weird to wear “Women’s Perfume”

For context: I purchased Your Devotion from Sephora because I fell in love with it. It’s sooo juicy and fresh and I’m a sucker for anything vanilla🤤. I then proceeded to douse myself in it and went about my day. In the local Publix, the lady behind me in checkout line then proceeded to ask me “I love your perfume, what is it?” so I told her what it was and she looked at me funny and went “Oh.. So it’s a women’s perfume..?”. I then gave her one of those “Uhh” 🤨looks and nodded my head. She looked at me like I had two heads.. I thought nothing of it after that and then went to work. Upon entering my coworkers office she too asked me what perfume I was wearing and I happily shared the name with her. “Isn’t that one for women?” She gave me this strange look and I returned the same expression “Does it matter?” and she immediately took offense to that I guess? I walked out feeling so annoyed. I get it, we’re just so used to being told women should smell like vanilla and flowers and men should smell like driftwood and sage but come on, it’s not THAT outlandish.

At the end of the day, I will wear what I want to wear. If it smells good, it’s getting sprayed. God forbid a man smell like a little Melon, Orange Blossom, and Vanilla Milk. 🤨 Let’s just remember that gender in perfume is a marketing tactic and men and women used to share the same bottle of perfume before the industry giants became too greedy.

WEAR WHAT YOU WANT TO WEAR
