Crownless Queen

Hi everyone,

I’m writing here to humbly ask for your help.

TL;DR: PS5 – no TANK experience – main ANA – QP 5v5, 6v6 – advice on the TANK role and JUNKER QUEEN

First off, I only play 5v5 QP, but over the last week I’ve tried 6v6, and when I get the right match, it’s way more fun—I try to make up for my terrible aim with strategy.

I’m a support main (mostly Ana) who, for some reason, has always had a soft spot for Junker Queen, so for the past few days, I started playing her. It was pure love at first sight. Right now, I only want to play her and I want to get better, which also means learning how to properly play a role I'm completely unused to.

I mainly play in two ways, depending on the situation (and my teammates):

MAIN TANK: if I'm the solo tank, I lead the charge by always advancing behind cover or corners, baiting the enemy tank and hoping they dive. If they don't, I throw old reliable Gracie as soon as they're in range and switch to the axe, looking for that combo with Carnage, just to show them who's boss right away.

OFF-TANK: if there's another tank, especially a defensive one, I play like their watchdog. I attack the enemy tank that isn't focusing me, peel for my supports against dives, try to target enemy supports—basically, I do the dirty work. Every now and then, when the situation allows, I try to flank the enemy and catch them all from behind.

Even though playing strategically pays off a lot, I can't always get the best out of Junker Queen. So, please help me hand her the crown she deserves! Feel free to share anything you want: technical advice (gamepad settings—remember I'm on PS5—keybinds, configs, etc.), strategies, opinions, do's & don'ts... anything will help.

Thanks a lot for reading, and thanks in advance for all the advice. A few thoughts from my first few days:

GAMEPLAY

- Junker Queen makes me feel like the class bully—the older kid who got held back a year, who taps his classmates on the head, gives people wedgies, and hangs them by their underwear from the wall. And I absolutely love it.

- I don't fear enemy tanks; when they don't have a pocket Mercy 24/7, they all go down pretty fast.

- I struggle against hyper-mobile heroes because if Jagged Blade misses, my only options are: back off and wait for the cooldown, or use Carnage—but that forces me to immediately pop Commanding Shout, and having that on cooldown means certain death.

- I can't seem to use her Ult properly; sometimes I don't even use it once the whole match. I've noticed that when I do use it, I often find myself behind enemy lines chasing their backline. I manage to kill one, but by then the anti-heal has worn off, the rest of them are fully healed up, and I die. The only times it's not a wasted Ult is when I use it to burst down the enemy tank, but in that case, only the tank dies. Should I wait for a massive group of low-health enemies? Should I combo it with someone else? I've tried, but I really struggle to coordinate.

- Often at the end of the match, looking at the scoreboard, I find myself 1st or 2nd in Elims (E), but sometimes 4th or 5th in Damage (DMG). What could that mean?

ABILITIES

Scattergun: Love the feel, love the SFX, and I was pleasantly surprised by the range and damage. 2 extra shots would have been nice, though. APPROVED

Jagged Blade: My favorite part of her kit, but I'm not satisfied with my hit rating. Any tips on how to improve? I still need to calibrate the distance because sometimes I pull enemies completely behind me, miss the axe swing, and they escape.

Commanding Shout: The SFX gives me chills down my spine. Honestly, I would have preferred less bonus health but a shorter cooldown.

Carnage: I love its damage as much as I hate how slow it is. I die using it way too often.

Rampage: Everything is perfect, but I don't get why you can't steer it even a little bit.

TALENTS / PERKS

I started out playing with "Battle Shout" and "Willy-Willy", but for better sustain and to force myself to use the axe more, I'm currently using "Savage Satiation".
