Since when is knowing stuff about cars NOT integral to working at a parts store?

I’ve been working here for the longest time and it’s been a while since we’ve hired people with any car knowledge. People (whether they should or not) come here for advice as well as parts and 80% of our staff couldn’t tell you the difference between a spark plug and a water pump.

It’s just so frustrating coming in and dealing with angry customers who got front brake pads when they needed rears or they didn’t bother to read any of the notes and just gave them the first part that pops up. Then I get grief for not selling enough bulb grease like gtfo 😭.
