My sister is the most adorable idiot

Ok, so my genuinely nice sister, today, is like “hey I have fresh baked banana bread, can I use your employee discount?”

Me: sure! Anytime love having the bread but would have yes for just your company!

She comes in when we are super busy so it doesn’t immediately clock that she bought the completely wrong antifreeze. She purchased coolant for boats and rvs, not her 2011 Subaru. But eventually I’m like “…huh…that was weird???”

So I call her to double check, just in case dad bought a boat or something…nope.

Kiddos first response is “oh gawd what did I do to my car?!?!???”

Great thing is she found a YouTube video and figured out how to drain her whole radiator system. All by herself. Bad news is that she thinks I’m the expert on car stuff and have anything to offer besides common sense and tutorials that she already knows how to find…

Where tf do you find the actual SM scheduling/attendance policy?

Real question for the other zoners/managers on here.
Is there an actual written policy somewhere in Znet about Store Manager scheduling/attendance expectations?

Like:
required closes
Sundays/weekends
minimum hours
call-outs
coverage expectations
etc
I keep hearing completely different answers depending on the store/district and I’m trying to figure out what the actual expectation is supposed to be.
Anybody know where it’s hidden in Znet or Doc what document/training it’s under?

South Carolina autozones do it the best! All states are below us in the vibes that South Carolina autozones have.

Any reason Zoners aren’t organizing?

Autozone is already notorious for low wages and high stress, but with all these new stores being opened it’s got me thinking. Can we go on some sort of strike to fight for better pay? Would it require us to unionize? We know corporate actively fights to keep labor costs as low as possible at the expense of employees, but opening hundreds of new stores across the world with 0 going back to employees feels like a slap in the face. We’re only worth as much as we reject the status quo.

Stuck in a loop

Hello all. Ive been trying to go into the comerical specialist role for the longest now. Im comming up on what is a year at autozone at 19 years old. Ive loved the experiences ive had. But experinces doesnt pay bills. We all know starting its 12/hr. That isn't nearly enough. I bust my ass for my store all day. Im a comerical driver with still not pay increase. Ive been comerical specialist when the actual specialist is out. Ive proved time and time again I can take up the task which is comerical. Even PSM its really not hard. Ive done all the task the manager traning workbook has asked of me. All I get is "soon we will talk". Im not one to cry or beg. But when its constant let downs. I grow tired. I had to transfer stores cause my first store was so small we didnt even have comerical. On top of that they promised me a promotion to PSM. What did they say? I have to earn it. They went and hired a lady. Who she was very cool. But ended up quiting bc it was "too much". Before then I had transferred. Again promised the same. My store manager, said he was working on it. I believed him because he is a family friend and he said he was talking to my district manager. Showed proof as well. Then they transferred him to another store shortly after we got Inventory. Ive grown tired of this because my new store manager has said the same. Now its been nothing but slow. After a altercation that one of my fellow Co workers had with a customer resulting in him being let go. I thought that position would finally be mine. Only to be told nothing once again. Our CSM stepped down to CS. He was traning me to be CS. So when our CS quit I thought it would be my turn. No he got his friend to be his CSM and he became CS. Now ive worked my ass of 40 hours every week. To be told nothing and mislead. Truly is hard to love a place Im very good at. When I cant even get a promotion for my skills. Im bilingual. I know cars because me and my dad work on them. He is a ASE mechanic. Now im at a point where idk whether to just leave or stay and wait some more. Please give advice!

Thanks.

Customers can legitimately be funny or cute sometimes

So yesterday we were slow in the hub and I used to be in diy so my asm asked me to come help with the line. Ok, no problem.

I get up there and my very first customer is this adorable Hispanic young woman with her dad, who she’s translating for. He’s telling her what to get, but very clearly in a teaching way, so that she can do this for her self in the future.

She ends up asking her own questions about oils and filters just being very happy and curious about everything even though she’s clearly not into cars, more interested in being practical and self sufficient.

She was just getting supplies for an oil change so I get to the part where I ask if she wants any of the air filters, dad wants the engine air filter but not the cabin air filter and my upsale game is in the gutter so I just flat out tell her that every six months I drive down to my parents house and use my dads air hose to blow out my cabin air filter and it’s lasted me six years.

She translates this to her dad, who straight up belly laughs and says something about how that’s exactly what he was already going to have her do.

I also, later, had a father and son come in for I don’t remember what but the whole conversation was about the dad fixing up his very first car and having his kid help him (adorable) and then he had the kid sign for his credit card and we had a whole separate conversation about kids needing to know how to forge signatures for permission slips and whatnot.

Just, ultimately, really cute and wholesome. There were other customers who were fine, but those two interactions stood out. Surprisingly, there were zero assholes or Karen’s. It was a good day.

Google GEMINI is telling me to lie to autozone to make them cover the expense of returning an item that gemini told me was the right part... gemini had all the facts, and basically kept telling me to blame autozone itself for the error

it's pretty sad when AI cannot recommend the right parts while having all the specs it needs provided to it,

...but when it starts blaming autozone catalog system for the error,

AND raising the prices for everybody by trying to stick autozone with the costs of return shipping based on google's recommended lies due to it's AI's error,

is this really the future we want? a wrong, know it all narcisstic program without concerns of knowingly scamming companies return policies to hide it's errors?

do we really need to teach the future people to lie to companies, hide our mistakes, make the retailers pay for errors that aren't theirs?

Is the store supposed to test batteries before exchanging them under warranty?

I bought a Duralast platinum batter a little over two years ago and it died. Had AAA come out and they confirmed it was basically a dead battery with a reading of 7v. Took it to the store and all I told them was that it was a dead battery. After looking up my account and seeing it was under warranty they just handed me a new battery without without a second thought. I expected them to at least test it or something to confirm it was actually dead before doing an exchange.

Will they quick on car parts?

I got an interview soon for the driver position, was just wondering if there would be any questions pertaining to certain car parts.
Any specifics I should know and review?
Will I be put to drive asap or be trained and work in the store to get familiar with everything?
