Does seeing GPS on the map only work if the node being followed is able to share GPS coordinates with other nodes via LoRa pings?

I'm asking because I am planning some remote hikes where my node with GPS will be without any other nearby nodes and will also be in a canyon with minimal line of site.

Am I right to suspect that my node will be able to obtain GPS via satellites but will likely not be able to broadcast those coordinates to my wife in town without many nodes around me for broadcasting?

I'm hoping to not have to pay hundreds of dollars for a fancy satellite phone for remote hikes...

I've spent a few months on Meshtastic with a few different nodes. One thing I like about MT is the position tracking ability for while I'm hiking in the wilderness but have access to satellites without much need for messaging.

I recently flashed Meshcore and I'm really impressed with the idea of cleaning up community traffic. However, as I move closer to MC from MT am I losing positioning broadcasting ability? Can I broadcast position repeatedly over a private MC channel so my people know where I am on a long hike (as a basic example)? I'm not very interested in broadcasting GPS to LongFast/Public.

I've spent hours with MT videos and text to learn all this. I haven't really seen anything on MC regarding GPS and position broadcasting except for the On/Off switches. Enlighten me please.

I use SenseCap T1000E and Wio tracker primarily.
