LinkedIn and job searching advice

I am really wanting to get a job at a specific retail company (Aldi) due to the higher pay, the benefits, and future transferability of the job. I am currently working retail in another sector (auto parts). I'm currently living in an area where I only know the people I've met in the last two years of being here as we moved from out of state to get here. So local connections/names are not in my favor. Would it be weird, or wrong or bad, to search up (basic Google stuff, nothing not easily found on a quick, beginner level Google search) for local area/store managers and add them on LinkedIn.. ? I'm not planning to specifically reach out via private messages to them, but just reach out to have a chance to be seen among the local competition. I do plan to go to the local store and express my interest (forgot to mention, they are opening a new store in this area, but have not posted any jobs for it yet). I want to network better with local people but im not very good at it. Would it be wrong or creepy to add them to LinkedIn?

County corrections office job advice

I am considering applying for an office job at my nearby county correction facility. I've done some office type jobs in the past, and am good with computers/typing. I'm wondering more about what it's like working in this type of environment though, to see if it would be a good fit for me. I've got a stable, but lesser paid, retail job, I'd be leaving for this one. Also side note, would they hire me knowing my long term partner/child's father is a convicted felony? (No new charges in 5+ years, and never in this state). Please advise...

I am currently working as an Assistant manager at a retail store. I have prior experience in claims processing B2B/ customer service B2B, as well as regular call center experience, as well as a variety of other jobs. my current job trajectory looks like moving into a store manager position in the next few years (3 roughly?) but the hope is to move up into a district manager position as quickly as I can after that. I am also looking to move my current location in the middle-ish of the country, to somewhere in the New England area. I know long term I dont want to be in the store level of retail jobs. I am very willing/wanting to move away from retail but would continue with the right company. But I keep finding myself looking for completely different jobs, for (hopefully) better pay. Ive considered paralegal, Real estate agent, CNA, Phlebotomist, I have ADHD so I love learning new things, and I am a single income family with two kids (17, 7) so the pressure to find a better paying job is HIGH. I like my day to day in my current job, but long term I would like to be making more money, and if I go through with my move I will NEED more money to compensate for the cost of living. I am worried to make a huge jump though and cost myself the stability I've had with this job. So part of me keeps looking to companies/job positions that would be easily transferrable to the new location. (which is what I did when I moved here from my prior state, transferred my job.) I do not have any college degrees but am fairly smart, and motivated, and pick things up pretty quickly. looking for some 2026 realistic advice.... Thanks!
