Looking for my people - (also, fun plans for this weekend maybe?)

Soo I haven’t really had the chance to build the kind of social circle I’d like since coming to Boston/U.S. in early 2026. After settling down a bit, I’ve realized now how much I miss having people to regularly connect and make memories with over shared interests and activities. So, I thought it’s time to put myself out there, looking for new friends. For starters, I thought it’d be fun to meet up this weekend for some board games, or maybe walk around MtAuburn cemetery (always wanted to check it out haha) if anyone’s interested :)

I’m 28M originally from Iran, and currently do clinical research here. I live around fenway and T is my best friend moving around as I can't ride a bike (yet) :(.

I’m a casual serious board gamer (think Zee Garcia if you know him!) and am also into football (EPL, La Liga, UCL — on the moon with how Barca is playing right now). I also love reading about human relationships, psychology, and social criticism whenever I find time. other hobbies: cooking, crying to movies/anime, quoting HIMYM, and having good conversations while learning about people's stories. And of course I'm open to trying any new hobby you might be looking to share!

Having a similar worldview is also pretty valuable to me when making friends so I’d love to meet fellow leftists (basically 90% of Boston lol) who don't worship Stalin (ok we're down to 60%), so we can also bond over complaining about the state of the world together🥹

tldr: if you're also in need of a small community, let's connect and start making one!

IM signals - overreaching or reasonable?

Hi all,

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on whether my signal list is too ambitious or not. I'm planning on around 4 reach, 7 target and 4 safety nets. I have some connections here or there but I want more objective opinion regardless of connections. And all except for Tulane and Ochsner are geo-preffered as well.

My profile:

  • 2023 graduate, non-US IMG
  • Step 1: Pass
  • Step 2: 256
  • US permanent resident
  • ~7-8 publications, 2 first-author + 2 poster (5 pubs + all posters are from neurology research)
  • ~7 months of USCE observership in the US (in one place, multiple attendees)
  • 3 LoR from U.S. sub-specialists + 1 LoR back home
  • Applying IM with the eventual goal of GI or hospitalist (undecided at the moment), but I’m primarily focused on matching into a solid and non toxic program

My 15 signals are: (haven't decided on gold/silver)

  • Tulane — New Orleans, LA
  • University of Maryland — Baltimore, MD
  • Ochsner Clinic Foundation — New Orleans, LA
  • UConn— Farmington, CT
  • Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital Program — Philadelphia, PA
  • Mount Auburn Hospital — Cambridge, MA
  • Geisinger Health System (Wilkes-Barre) Program — Wilkes-Barre, PA
  • Lahey Clinic — Burlington, MA
  • MedStar Health Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center — Washington, DC
  • Sinai Hospital of Baltimore — Baltimore, MD
  • Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program — Bronx, NY
  • MedStar Health Georgetown (Baltimore) Program — Baltimore, MD
  • SUNY Upstate — Syracuse, NY
  • Bridgeport Hospital/Yale University— Bridgeport, CT
  • Icahn SoM at Mount Sinai/NYC Health and Hospitals (Elmhurst)— Elmhurst, NY

Thanks in advance!
