
SCAMMED Zomato falsely marked my order as delivered, delivery partner admitted he gave it to the wrong person, support still denied refund.

Ordered from Taco Bell (Order #8129959677) at around 2-3 AM because I was at work and hungry. Delivery partner Salman Sahiblal Shaikh marked the order as delivered, but I never received it.
The worst part? On call, the delivery partner himself admitted that he delivered my order to the wrong person.
Despite this, Zomato support reviewed it and responded saying their “system records” show the order was successfully delivered, so they refused to refund me.
So basically:
• I paid for food I never got
• Delivery partner admitted fault
• Zomato still sided with system status over actual customer experience
• No refund, no compensation, just a generic apology
This is beyond frustrating because if their own delivery partner confirms the mistake, how is that not enough? What exactly is customer protection here?
I’m now considering taking this to consumer court because this feels like blatant negligence and zero accountability.
Has anyone else faced something similar with Zomato? Did escalating actually help, or is consumer court the only serious option left?
Edit: Mailing Zomato CEO in the trail mail helped as suggested by one redditor , got the refund.
