Almost Cycled?

This is a fish in cycle - 10 gallon tank with heater and filter
79 degree water
One male betta in tank (blue marble dot)
pH is between 7.2-7.6 range - have an Indian Almond Leaf in his tank for tannins and to naturally lower his pH level

Stalled cycle had to restart it - trace amounts of ammonia and the nitrites are darker in the picture than in the light (same thing with the ammonia) and his nitrates are almost at 5ppm - am I getting to the end of the road of this fish in cycle? Lost my Marshmallow two days ago and he had a fully cycled tank but some disease took him hence why I’m not using the filter media for Phoenix’s tank from his… what do you all think with this cycle? Fingers crossed it’s almost done ✅

SIP Marshmallow… 😥

Hello - so, my little buddy Marshmallow that I had for a month passed last night or early this am… I’m extremely upset and I blame myself (newbie fish keeper here) he was a Petco or PetSmart betta (so active and healthy and reactive to me but he declined in health over the last week rapidly - he was definitely a juvenile too - he loved surfing that damn current from the filter lol) I also still have Kanaplex in the now empty tank and I was wondering if I should re cycle the whole tank if I decide to get another fish - we currently have another betta from Tropic Flow and he’s doing great 💜

Idk if I’m going to get another fish or not yet and idk if he had a disease - seemed like fin rot (he lost his tail two nights ago and it had a brown spot on it near the base but he also had not been eating in almost a week) - I think I knew he wasn’t going to make it and he knew too… he crawled up to the front of his tank last night to say goodbye to me (he had been hiding previously for the last week and that was the most I’d seen him)

I know people say oh he was just a fish but no he wasn’t - he was MY pet and a breathing living creature that I loved… Marshmallow was so loved… my 6 year old is devastated and at 45 years young so am I… never thought I’d be this upset and ugly crying over such a small animal…

SIP my little Marshmallow… you were and are still loved… 💜🩵💜😥😥😥

Fin Rot or Something Else?

I got this boy a month ago - rapid decline after a month - tank parameters are 0 Ammonia 0 Nitrite and under 5ppm of Nitrates - fully cycled tank with a heater and filter - refuses to eat (for a week now) and I just did a second dose of Kanaplex today so day 4 - next change isn’t until Friday for the last dose - using API Master Test kit too for water parameters - anyone have any idea what is going on here? I really need some help here… no tankmates and he’s in a 10 gallon tank with about 5 gallons of water with a sponge filter to make it easier for him to swim to breathe with his labyrinth organ - (no hospital tank so I have to make do) I’ve put one large Indian almond leaf in his tank when this all started about a week ago (a bit lethargic and wouldn’t eat) and nothing seems to be working… I have some aquarium salt but no epsom salt - please anyone out here I really need some help with my Marshmallow - I’m sitting here blaming myself and ugly crying… and at 45 years young it ain’t pretty… not an experienced fish keeper… all plants are silk nothing sharp… do I need to prepare myself for his end of life journey? I can’t do it… 😥

Hello (again) all -

10 gallon tank - heater and filter - cycled tank - no ammonia - no nitrites and about 10ppm nitrates in tank currently - 79 degree water and I added an almond leaf and stress coat plus yesterday to his tank - pH is 7.4 -7.6 in his tank

Marshmallow (my juvenile to young adult) betta will not eat now… he’s been resting a lot but not showing any signs of illness or infection besides resting in his hidey rock - he flits around every now and again but then goes right back to resting - not sure what could be going on… 😞

Phoenix’s tank (10 gallon - heater and filter - .50ppm ammonia - no nitrites and trace amounts of nitrates with 79 degree water and pH is 7.4-7.6) still will NOT CYCLE and I’m about at my wits end with this cycling (using Fritzzyme 7 and Stress Coat Plus and he also has an almond leaf in his tank too) I did restart the cycle because there were other chemicals in there I had been using that yucked up his water but I feel like I’m stuck in this endless loop of nothing but ammonia and he gets a partial water change everyday - ammonia is not getting higher or lower just staying at the .50ppm - I have spent over 600.00 on both these bettas to make them happy and healthy and I’m in tears right now because I’m so frustrated with all of this…I’m just feeling utterly defeated… been told don’t change the water for 4 days after using Fritzzyme 7 but kinda need to if there’s ammonia present…

If you made it this far into this post thank you…

Tank parameters - 10 gallon - heater - filter - 79 degrees - no nitrites - no nitrates and .50ppm ammonia (fish in cycle)
Doing every other day 50% water changes for the ammonia - using Prime and Stability as well

I just did the Seachem Multi Test Ammonia for free and total - my free is zero (the yellow disc) which is the HARMFUL ammonia and the total is around what my API master kit says .50ppm - any thoughts on this? My betta has been eating and swimming like normal through all of this for the past two weeks so idk? 🤷‍♀️
