AITA for calling my sister entitled after a trip I paid for?
I took my older sister on a 4-night trip and paid for the entire hotel stay. As soon as we checked in, the hotel asked for the standard refundable incidentals deposit and she loudly said, “OMG, I have to pay?!” in front of the front desk employee. She then told me I had to understand because she’d recently made a big payment and money was tight.
Throughout the trip, she complained constantly about her love life and financial situation. She seemed annoyed whenever she had to pay for anything herself, including things like water, and never once offered to buy me a coffee, a matcha, a meal, or contribute to anything. I wasn’t expecting her to split the hotel bill, but some gesture of appreciation would have been nice.
What really bothered me was that later during the trip she spent $98 on a tarot reading. That made it hard for me to understand why she was acting stressed about paying for basic expenses while I was covering the vacation.
What bothered me most wasn’t that she couldn’t afford to split the hotel. It was that whenever we went out for meals, she never even offered to pay for mine or cover a single dinner despite me paying for the entire stay. Even a small gesture would have made me feel appreciated
By the end of the trip, I felt completely taken for granted. After we got home, I told her I felt she had acted entitled. She got very upset and said I was being cruel. She also keeps saying that I’m “really this mad over a drink,” referring to the fact that she never offered to buy me a matcha. Also said Im materialistic lmao
The thing is, I’m not upset about the matcha itself. To me, it was about paying for a trip, feeling unappreciated the entire time, and then having my concerns dismissed when I brought them up.
AITA for calling her entitled?
Edit: I forgot to add she also bought an outfit and a random hat lmao!!!
