Bad Mood Read

Ive had a day. A DAY-and its only morning. I need a read that will pick me up and keep me distracted. What do you read when your in an absolutely foul mood?

I prefer RH but any romance is fine (mm, mf, ff) as long as there is no SA. I prefer no bully/cruelty (but if its there its okay, maybe someone else will love it!) and my favorite trope is high usage of magic/powers in any kind of world. I love fated mates and destiny but its not required. Less children the better but as long as the kids arent just birthed and forgotten about its fine.

Super confused but Im reading it anyways!

Ive never even wondered or thought about a book like this but {The Glass Between Us by Mary Elizabeth Sinclair} is now going on my kindle. I mean, The Meg as a RH? Wth? I cant NOT read this. Now Im curious, does anyone else know of any RH that have huge monsters like Jaws, Kaiju, mega-sharks, ect that are horror/suspense? I know Sedona Ashe has a Dinosaur one but its more of a comedy Encino man thing.

Source of Elementra Question

So its on my TBR and I went to pick it up today and noticed every book in the series is tagged Rape/SA, torture, violence but also tagged with past SA. I was wondering if someone could tell me is this something that just keeps happening (like, every book someone is SA'd like a bow on a present) or are the tags just refering to the time it happened in the past that keeps getting brought up? I dont read books where SA is a character statement/accessory instead of a traumatic event so I dont want to get invested in a 5 book series with constant SA. I keep seeing it recced so I want to read it but I know what I can handle. Thanks for any help!

Periodically checking for free books

So every week I check certain places for free book offers. I know some people post when books are free but I prefer to look myself anyways.

So typically I go to: Google Play (since I use android), Walmart online, Amazon, & Barnes and Noble. I used to add Target but their selection isnt unique or large.

Typically I search the same things in each store: Free reverse harem, free polyamory, free why choose, free omegaverse, free fated mates, free fantasy, and free paranormal. Then I remove free and search each one again and then sort by price low to high and pick up anything that looks intereting.

Are there any online book stores that I should add to my search that have a large selection of romance (particularly reverse harem or polyamory) books? Or maybe online stores from other countries that offer free books in English?

Looking for Book- Neighbor brothers and an Apple Orchard

I read a standalone book with a FMC who moves to her parents house after dropping out of college and falls for her neighbors. The brothers next door have an apple orchard and the FMC goes to live with them in a house on the property. I remember the parents travel and move a lot all over the world (they do nature documentaries) and she chooses to stay with them. I think there are 4-5 brothers and they end up moving to Europe in the end. There is no bad guy or huge story drama, no mafia, and she had never met them before (as the parents just moved there). I know it's a quickish standalone but for the life of me I can't find it in any of my histories or libraries. Also its old, at least 5 years as it was one of my early RH reads.

Random Question: Playlists

When an author adds a playlist in a book you read do you think its the author telling you what they were listening to or are they trying to set the scene for the book/chapter?

Ive read multiple books where playlists were given and I cant figure it out at all. Sometimes an author will put poppy/loud/manic-pixie music like Taylor Swift or whatever on the playlist but the chapter has the FMC being tortured, SA'd, or doing things that seem to have nothing to do with half the songs on the playlist. Ive tried matching songs to chapters, looking up lyrics, and even giving myself a headache listening to the songs and still maybe one out of five books with playlists will make sense to me.

Can someone, preferable including an author who has published a book with playlists, explain the point to me?

Question about SA Tag/Trigger Warning

If a books trigger reads: SA outside of the Harem

Does that mean a harem member gets SA'd by someone outside the harem **or** that someone outside the harem gets SA'd?

I always thought it meant that a friend or family member gets SA'd. Someone close to but outside the harem. The book I just started has that as a trigger but then opens with a man brutally raping the fmc before her harem even forms.

Am I understanding the SA Triggers and Tags wrong?

Edit: Thanks everyone who answered, I will definately watch for this one in the future. I will say, though that Im dissapointed that, in order to be more specific, the author confused the reader. I wish she had labeled it a different way, I genuinely thought it meant someone outside the harem got assaulted. Even just saying "SA *from* outside the harem" would have been more clear.

This book is wierd as hell but maybe Im going insane. I feel like Im reading this incorrectly, but after page 6 re-reads I am almost positive this is not what the author meant to write, or maybe it should have been written differently...

"Inside, it’s warm and lived-in, but the whole place is saturated with alpha scent. Thick and heavy. Pine, pepper, wood-smoke, and hot turd. My wolf perks up at it, and I tell her to shut the hell up."

Now, my question is--wtf? Is this supposed to be a plesent smell? Im so confused.
