What do we mean by stability exactly?

So I was just studying the distribution of electrons in energy levels and i read that Na with it's configuration being 2,8,1 has to give up the valence electrons to become more "stable ". What does stability exactly refer to? I just looked it up on Google and it Saif " to imitate inert gases" . It aint making sense to me. Pls help

I genuinely feel inferior to people who grew up in big cities

I’ve never really admitted this properly before, but I think growing up in a smaller town has given me a weird inferiority complex. Whenever I see people from big cities, they just seem ahead in everything. The way they speak, their confidence, their exposure, their schools, their social lives, even the way they think. Sometimes I talk to people online and immediately feel “smaller” than them once I find out they’re from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. Meanwhile I feel like I spent half my life disconnected from everything. Less opportunities, less guidance, less exposure. And now I’m trying to build myself while feeling like others got a huge head start. What hurts is that people say “location doesn’t matter if you work hard,” but honestly it does affect you. Environment shapes confidence so much. Sometimes I even feel embarrassed about where I’m from for no real reason. Like I subconsciously assume city kids are automatically smarter or more capable than me. I know this mindset is unhealthy, and maybe unfair too, but I wanted to say it somewhere because I can’t be the only person who feels this way. Does anyone else relate to this? Did things get better once you grew older or moved out?
