this is my spike man yucca. he’s not very smart but i love him. you will be hearing more from us
hi — i have an african pygmy hedgehog, yucca, who i rescued last november from an animal hoarding situation. i’ve never owned a hedgehog before and did SO much research on husbandry before getting him as well as consulting an exotic animal veterinarian. he was morbidly obese when i got him and very neglected. i’ve gotten yucca down to a nice weight and he is much more active and looks a lot healthier! but, while i am very bonded to him, i wish i felt like he was a bit more bonded to me.
i’m not sure what his history was like before i had him, but from day 1 he is just a nervous little fella and he does the hissing noise a lot. he’s gotten much better about me handling him but i don’t feel like he feels bonded to me like some of your hogs do. what am i doing wrong? :(
i just finished my second year of veterinary school… got my first bunny right before going to school, now he is the love of my life and i have discovered how underserved the rabbit medical field is. i love bunnies of every shape and size and i cannot wait to be hanging out with the little guys on the daily and helping them feel better! i have two bunnies now and it isn’t enough 🥺 for your viewing pleasure: mr mac and sweet wally
