Basically, one of C-Moon's abilities is to create a gravitational barrier around Pucci to protect him. He was probably just using that to soften the blow from Star Platinum.
Counter Arguments:
A: No, it didn't. Star Platinum is shown a lot to be just as strong (physically) as he was when he was 17. There is no example of a stand getting weaker with age in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (if I'm wrong and there are examples of stands getting weaker with age, let me know).
Edit: apparently there IS an example of a stand getting weaker with age. But still, 40 years old is not old enough to make that happen.
A: He was obviously trying to kill Pucci. And what reason would Jotaro have for leaving Pucci alive? He is a massive threat to Jotaro and anyone in a 3k radius, of course he's trying to kill Pucci.

Do most people just join jjs and go "Oh boy, time to use Yuji/Hakari/Gojo, possibly the most boring characters to ever enter JJS!"

Like I have 20k kills and have been playing since Hakari came out, and I still don't get why people play these guys except to show off or pop ult (specifically Hakari.)
They make a good duo in duels because not only are they strong individually, they compliment each other.

For example, Kuro can give locust a free m1 reset by placing his special on Locust, which forces them to detonate in an air combo, which resets the m1s of the locust for some reason.

And Locust can using black mucus on the opponents after Kuro does the festring strikes fist variant which makes it so that their damage is reduced and their being poisoned.
​
It also helps that Kuro is an "everything counter" which helps when dealing with the average sweaty yuji/hakari/gojo/naoya duo
