Hog Island Boa Humidity Regulation
I recently got a hog island boa, she’s just over a year old, I have a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure and have a semi bioactive system going, my substrate is about 3 inches deep, mix of top soil with coconut husk and bark and have a few live plants with isopods and springtails.
I have a heat panel mounted to the ceiling of the enclosure and the net on top is 80% covered and have ventilation holes on the sides of the enclosure as well. I mist every morning and evening and also have a few damp spots in the soil.
So my question is, I read that humidity should be at 40%-60% and have it a bit higher during shedding, the way I have it set up after I mist it’ll jump up to 70% and then for the next 5 hours stay between 45%-65%, but then it’ll drop to 35%-40% until I mist again. I’m usually out for work for 8-10 hours at a time and I’m not sure if the humidity dropping to below 40% for a few hours during the day and during the night is okay, and if there’s something I can do to help the humidity be higher other than just misting.
