Why does my terminally ill dog stop pacing only when we allow her to sleep on us?
I’m asking this out of curiosity as I’m pretty hopeless on my dog’s health state. Vets can’t really figure out what she has, all we know is that she’s terminal.
For those wondering why we haven’t put her down yet, it’s because we don’t know if it’s too soon. She still eats and drinks but she did lose a lot of muscle mass and cognitive abilities. When the vets told edit: tells us to put her down we will sadly have to do it, don’t worry. At the moment, I just hope it’s as late as possible. For anyone wondering, yes, she has liver issues, but we don’t know why.
Anyways, I noticed that my dog paces a lot but she stops pacing when we allow her to sleep on us. Either while sitting at the table or on the sofa, we pick the dog up and she falls asleep. Why does she do it? Does she know something is wrong so the presence of one of her owners calms her? Or is there a more scientific reason for it, without projecting human feelings on my dog?
