Thanks God Quitter’s Gone

New reports are Quitter is declining contracts that offer 4 years/$13M per season. There is no denying what a 40 goal scorer could do for the Flyers, but I love seeing our players sign fair and team considerate deals that benefit everyone. Everyone on the Flyers feels bought in right now and I’m excited to see what these guys can do over the next 5 years.

Briere wanted to build a culture and Cutter ain’t it. This feels like final closure cuz I’m more glad than ever that Quitter is gone. Let’s go Flyers!

Tell me your 2026 predictions: Something good and something bad

I’ll start,

Something good: Flyers will have (2) 30 goal-scorers this season. First time they have had more than 1 since 2008-2009 when they actually had 3 separate players achieve that feat.

Something bad: The team will have to rely more on young/rookie defenseman. As a result, defense and goaltending will have more struggles than we expect them to. We’re going to hear a lot about Vlader’s extension on social media because of it.

Tell me yours!

The Flyers can just keep doing this to the Ducks and it’s hilarious

Not saying this is going to happen, but it’s funny that the Flyers can just keep doing this to the Ducks. The Ducks really backed themselves into a corner with only $17M in cap space.

We offer sheet Leo. Oh no, you matched?

Cool… we offer sheet Cutter.

Oh no, you matched???

Cool… we offer sheet Mintyukov

Not saying they’re going to do this, but they could just ruin the Ducks in one offseason.

Thanks for a fun 4th of July weekend Briere!

Briere REALLY wants to be hard to play against

Every draft that goes by, Briere and company’s vision become clearer and clearer. When Briere took the job, he said, “We want to be hard to play against”. And it seems like every draft since, he has a type.

Tall, big, and strong.

I’m not here to pass judgement or evaluate our prospects right now. But size means more ground covered, more passing lanes shut down, more intimidation on 50/50 puck battles, more physicality, more inside play. Okay, cool.

What makes this process so fascinating to me is: how do we judge these prospects alone? Jack Nesbitt might be a 3C alone. But if all 5 players are eating up space, playing physical, being intimidating: could that style raise their collective effectiveness as a hockey line? Could they produce above their ability?

Can the Flyers build a team that consistently makes the playoffs with this process? Can they build a team that drives physicality for success in the playoffs? We know it can work come playoff time. If we can make the playoffs consistently, and can slap around some contenders, will THAT be the thing that attracts elite superstars to want to finally come here???

This IS NOT like any regime before. Flyers before would take 5’10 forwards and smaller defenseman, etc. This is getting VERY different very fast. Sink or swim, Danny and company are going for it. Will it work? I don’t know, but I do respect his balls right now. He seems all in on it.

Hurricanes and Flyers are two teams that are built outside the typical “Tank for 1C and 1D” philosophies. Carolina is everything the Flyers want to become, a team of players who are bought in and ferocious at every phase of the game. Like all of us, I’ve had my ups and downs with this rebuild. But seeing a young core of Flyers players who are bought in to what Briere and company are trying to create and seeing Carolina be as good as they are: it is inspiring for the future of the franchise.

We have prospects who will continue to grow, we have all our draft picks between rounds 1-3, we have the Toronto 1st, and we still have time to let things happen organically, rather than force the issue like previous regimes.

Win game 3, continue to inspire the fan base, and let’s enjoy the ride. Go Flyers!!!

I went to the Hurricans game and said “If Foerster scores, I’ll buy his jersey” during the shootout. Well, he scored! I’m going to the game tomorrow and I’m trying to ensure I’m not bringing any bad mojo.

Do they have Foerster jerseys for sale in the team store in the stadium?
