I finally have time to do the fun stuff again

What would you do with this newly acquired 1925 bathroom? Specifically, what do we do with the white framed box in the shower? And, any thoughts on the cupboard situation? Doesn’t seem all is original and the framing around it isn’t great. Not sure how to go about “fixing” that. Please ignore the ceiling as that is first on our to do list. Thank you!
