I’ve illustrated a book about Halloween and would love to share more details with you!

Hello everyone! My new search and find book focused in Kids, which is called Halloween Search and Find Adventures, was just released yesterday! This is a book I would love to read if I were able to be a kid again lol. In each page, you must find a specific character (Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein, etc) hosting its own Halloween party in a specific and funny location, like Draculas Castle, Ghost Mansion house, etc. there are some lost objects too. If you have any questions, may you be an author, illustrator or a reader, I would love to talk more about my process creating this book. Just ask me here and I will answer right away. Thanks!

This is why it matters so much to me.

I wanted to share this picture from our Halloween display because this is the kind of thing we already participate in every year through Skeletons for St. Jude. Halloween has always been a huge community thing for us, and we try to use our display for something positive whenever we can.

That’s a big reason why I’ve talked about Chester in the same way. If Chester were lucky enough to have the support he needs to get selected for the HalloweenCostumes.com lineup and sold worldwide, donating a portion of the sales toward supporting St. Jude honestly just feels like the right thing to do.

To me, Chester is more than just trying to win a contest. I would love for him to become something fun for the Halloween community while also helping give back along the way.

If anyone would like to support Chester, my family and I will definitely appreciate your vote and shares. Every vote helps push Chester one step closer to potentially becoming a real Halloween animatronic while also helping us continue supporting causes that genuinely mean a lot to our family and community.

And if you would like to vote for Chester, here’s how you do it:

• Visit my designer page

https://designprogram.halloweencostumes.com/designer/Lucky.joe13

• Sign in with Google or Meta (Google usually works best)
• Click the VOTE button under Chester
• If the button looks faded and says “VOTED,” your vote went through successfully ✅

Thank you to everyone who has supported Chester so far. It honestly means more to us than you probably realize. 🎃

Here's the large ALien mask I made last year. It has a foam insert to keep the shape and the option to have the tongue out or not. It's almost full size at about 84 cm long, plus the tongue.

My son and I are creating a portfolio of creepy deep sea fish for our Halloween yard display. Here’s our first 3D model: a Glow In the Dark Angler Fish.

My kids (grade school age) wanted to create a unique project for our Halloween yard display, so we decided on a creepy, scary deep sea fish theme for this year. I (dad) drafted this Angler Fish model in Fusion 360 based of a creepy picture my son found online. Our plan is to add to the creepy fish portfolio. We’re sharing the 1st one here, a creepy glow in the dark single color angler fish. I plan to upload a multicolor version with black body, red/glowing eyes, and glowing teeth soon also…I plan to test print that profile next!

We’ve shared the first print profile, which printed great in luminous rainbow PLA (which we ironically didn’t know glowed in the dark until after we printed it lol…we were pleasantly surprised!!!).

Please test it out and let us know what you think! Also, if you have suggestions for other creepy deep sea fish/creatures, let us know in the comments what we should add to the collection!

Printed on our Bambu A1 Combo that they received for Christmas!

Want to DIY this Carnival Entrance - easiest way to achieve this?

This will be my first ever prop. I want to do a haunted evil carnival party on halloween this year. I have no experience and no tools! Looking for guidance - heavy duty cardboard & a jigsaw cutter? plywood? what kind of paint? How do I use 2x4s to prop this up? Appreciate it!!

Any tips are helpful 😄

Getting an early start on Halloween! We built a "Gothic Snow White Reliquary" (3D Print + Laser Cut) 🍎🫀

Hey everyone! Following the great feedback on our last staff prop, my wife and I decided to tackle a hybrid project for our next dark fantasy/Evil Queen theme.

We wanted to make the ultimate creepy-but-elegant prop: an anatomical, mechanical heart locked inside a glowing box.

I handled the fabrication: I FDM printed the heart and cut the gothic wooden box using my 20W diode laser. Then, my wife worked her magic with the post-processing. She hand-painted the heart with thick primers and metallic acrylics to make it look like heavy, cursed iron. We finished it off with a silk lining and some hidden warm LEDs inside the box.

If anyone wants to get a head start on their Halloween props, the files are completely free: 🫀 3D Heart:https://makerworld.com/it/models/2823799-gothic-snow-white-reliquary-hybrid-prop#profileId-3145208📦 Laser Cut Box:https://www.atomm.com/it/project/123363-gothic-reliquary-box-laser-cut-and-engrave-for-cosplay-or-decor?utm_source=copylink&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=sharetoearn2&utm_id=317363

Almost finished Corpsing

I finally got the opportunity to finish painting and staining the twins today. Hopefully this week I'll be able to seal them and add the hair.

Haunt walkthrough from last year.

https://reddit.com/link/1tgkjmg/video/lmrw9u1nlw1h1/player

All bought props, except for the crank ghost. Buildings are PVC greenhouses covered in reinforced room rolls from Party City. Someone bought the Amscan arm of Party City when they went under, but they don't seem to be selling anything yet. If anybody knows where you can get those stone rolls, now, I'd love to know about it.

EDIT: Re-uploaded video, now with faces blurred. I hope that's okay. Pity it also blurs the faces of the props.

What to Improve

Finishing up these 4 tombstones and I’m not happy with the first 3 at all. The stone texture is fine but I feel it’s missing something and I don’t like the black wash I did on the lettering.

Does anyone have any tips for carving neater lettering on styrofoam? I tried melting with a sauntering iron and carving with a router but the letters are still throwing off the look

Puppet design/costume help.

Hey y'all!

I have a puppet Halloween costume I'm working on for this years project, and I'm having trouble deciding on what I should turn the skeleton into.

I've taken inspiration on making a puppet like the Attack line Puppets from VFX Creates store, I have a life like skeleton that I've used as a base and modified into a puppet. I will be attached to the puppet at all times and plan on using it for a quick scare for trick or treater's for Halloween night the puppet will also have a speaker with custom sounds. The puppet is just about finished but I have SO many options on which way I can go in decorating/turning this skeleton into something that isn't a bare skeleton.

I would like to tie it into something with my Halloween decor that I already have and to try and match the 'theming'
I have a 12ft Inferno Pumpkin skeleton, a inflatable spider, a corpse burnt at the stake, an animatronic Freddy Krueger, animatronic Jason Voorhee's and a animatronic grim reaper with tombstone. Fog machines, a skeleton 'throwing up' bio-hazard waste, a 9ft ground breaking skeleton, a pumpkin archway, tombstones, a bunch of Halloween lights, and a LOT of beef netting cobwebs with spiders.

I was thinking of doing a skeleton that was being taken over by roots and moss, like its coming alive from the ground, and then I could dress up as a grave robber, HOWEVER there is a house nearby who does a tombstone/cemetery display and they dress up as grave robbers while handing out candy.

My Ideas are:

Devil (Puppet) - Priest (Self), but doesn't tie with the theming.

Root taking over creature from the ground (Puppet) - Grave Robber (Self) Copying a house decor idea nearby. (no one likes a copy cat)

Exorcist design, that would tie into the serial killer vibe.

Freddy from Trick r' treat but then I wouldn't be able to use the movable jaw at all.

Bio-hazard design, would work with the acid puking skeleton.

Fog machines?

Are fog machines worth the effort/cost?

Specifically in the context i would like to use one for.

First time decorating for halloween and i am in the planning stages of wanting to decorate my house/front yard based on one of my favorite novels Our Share of Night.

So basically I would like to turn my small front porch into a mouth and have fog inside that mouth. I have an electrical outlet already so that wouldnt be an issue but being outside/wind/etc would the fog actualy work how i am imagining or would i need some way to allow the fog to pool up?

Thank you in advance for helping a halloween noob out!

🎃 A Quick Message to the Halloween Community 🎃

I wanted to say something openly.

When I first started posting here about Chester the Tricking Tree, I genuinely wasn’t really sure what I was doing with Reddit, and looking back, I know I probably got a little too spammy with it at times.

That was never meant to annoy people or clutter the community, and I truly am sorry to anyone I frustrated along the way.

Recently I received a pretty harsh DM, and it got to me more than I expected. It actually made me question whether I should even keep making Halloween stuff at all or if I should just quietly drop out of the contest altogether.

Not because I think everyone has to like Chester. They absolutely don’t.

But when you put something creative out into the world, especially something tied to a passion you’ve had for years, it can hit pretty hard when someone tells you your ideas are terrible and that you should stop creating entirely.

Still, after sitting with it for a while, I realized something:

Halloween is supposed to be creative.
It’s supposed to be weird.
It’s supposed to let different people enjoy different styles of spooky fun.

Some people love extreme horror.
Some people love goofy spooky fun.

I’ve always personally loved the playful side of Halloween. Mischievous props, cheesy animatronics, trick-or-treat nostalgia, and family-friendly haunted house vibes.

That’s what Chester was designed to be.

I censored the person’s name because I’m not trying to start drama or send hate toward anyone. I mostly just wanted to share the experience and also own up to the fact that I know I came in here a little too strong at first.

At the end of the day, I really do appreciate the people here who have been supportive, encouraging, or even just respectful.

Anyway, hope everybody has an awesome Halloween season ahead 🎃

I designed and made this Gothic Skull Hand Mirror. It could be the perfect prop for a Vampire, Witch, or Dark Queen costume! 🧛‍♀️💀

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a prop we just finished. I did the 3D design and printing, and my wife Ambra did an amazing job with the painting and weathering to make it look ancient and realistic. 🎨

I thought it would be perfect for anyone putting together a dark, gothic, or Halloween costume.

If you happen to have a 3D printer (or a friend who has one), I uploaded the 3D files completely for free. You can grab them here: https://makerworld.com/it/models/2784170-gothic-elegance-skull-hand-mirror#profileId-3094750

What kind of costume would you pair this with?
