Success story here! Figure I’ll share some tid bits.
I am a 29M. Family history of colon issues. Have been having stomach issues for as long as I can’t remember but the past 6-9 months have been weird. Constant pain especially in my stomach area down to abdomen. Constipation and weird stools. Did swallow test, did h pylori to see if it was anything upper GI. Just some moderate reflux. Finally got my doc on the second visit to get a Colonoscopy.
I was instructed to do 4L of GaviLyte.
DAY BEFORE : 2L 5PM-8PM day before. Light breakfast (which I passed up on).
DAY OF: 2L 6 hours before. And finish 3 hours before.
Results: Clean as a whistle. Hemorrhoid issue.
Pros: The first 2L went down super easy. I used Liquid IV Lemon lime. Bought the 6 pack. Put one pack in each liter. It helped. Had a Mio lemon lime as well incase I needed it. I started having bowel movements about 2 hours afterwards. And they weren’t bad till about 11… once I arrived I had plenty of energy and was ready to roll and get this done. Not to mention it’s the best sleep you’ll ever get!!! LOL!! Totally knocked out.
Cons: I tried to sleep and I think that was a bad idea. I woke up and I was NOT having it. Not only that. I was going all night and I think sleeping backed me up a bit. Considering I have constipation, I was really backed up already. Drinking the last 2L was not fun. I struggled mightly. Was sick to my stomach and nausea was there. But as soon as I started to have bowel movements (and lots of them, probably one every 15-20 minutes) it got better. That leads me to the last con… your butt will hurt. I used wipes and boy it got stingy down there. Also, I have hemroid so not sure if that caused it? I’m not good with IV so needles suck.
Tips: Have a chaser with you. Only reason I made it through last 2L was Ginger ale and Ginger tea. Highly highly recommend. Drink with a straw. Don’t expect to do anything as soon as you start taking the prep.
Overall so happy with the results and happy with how it went. I was nervous. I got cocky after finishing the first half. And now I know for next time 😂🤣 but keep telling yourself you got this and believe!! If you have any questions please ask!
How long did it take for your bowel movement?
Currently 32+16 ounces down. About to go for 8 more. Finishing it in 3 hours easily. Outside of one urge which was barely water and some stomach cramping I’m waiting. 😂😂😂
I know it says it can take up to 6 hours?
I should note I had a large stool this morning if that helps. And isn’t eat a light breakfast like they said I could (cause I didn’t care to eat a light one anyway).
