Arab and non-Arab marriage, Worried about cultural and language differences!
Assalamu alaikum,
I'm an Egyptian living in the UAE, Arabic is my mother tongue.
I was mostly looking at a specific Arab nationality. Then I met an Indian Muslim sister, beautiful masha'Allah, solid deen, and the core character traits I'm looking for are all there.
But two concerns:
- Culture different backgrounds, traditions, and family dynamics. Worried about the long-term, especially with kids.
- Language (the bigger one) her English is excellent, probably better than mine. Mine is fine, but I'm just more myself in Arabic. In English, Scared that gap shows up in hard conversations and emotional moments down the line!
I don't want to start the engagement process and realize too late there's something I couldn't work past.
Anyone been in a similar situation (Arab + non-Arab) with a real language/culture gap? How did it actually play out? Am I overthinking this, or are these legitimate concerns?
Thank you so much in advance.
