UK schools for industrial design

working on my UCAS right now and i need to finalize what schools i plan to apply to. i want to take industrial design/product design. right now my 5 schools are:

  • CSM
  • Imperial (design engineering for this one)
  • Loughborough
  • Brunel
  • Northumbria

im debating between switching out either brunel/northumbria for leeds. does anyone have any advice/experience in these schools they are willing to share?

my dream course is an equal mix between industrial design and mechanical engineering, though i don't mind more focus on the design aspect.

tysm!

what does imperial look for in industrial design applicants?

hello, I'm in my senior year. I very recently discovered industrial design & gained an interest in robotics.

I've been drawing my whole life but I don't go to a very prestigious school, so I've never participated in any arts competitions. I'm just very worried, because while Imperial is my dream school, I don't think I have enough extracurriculars to back up my application.

I've only participated in one global competition for general academics and maybe a few science and math competitions (biology, etc). But I haven't led a club and I don't have experience in engineering.

tldr: does anyone have any advice for presentation of extracurriculars when applying to Imperial?

People who grew up passionate in arts and ended up picking a differing major, what did you choose, and did you regret it?

hello! Just trying to decide on my own major & I want to hear about your own personal experiences.

Did you pick a major/career still arts adjacent? Or did you go for the most practical and profitable choice?

If you could change something about your path, would you? And if so, what would that be?

any college majors within the field of "making things?"

Hello! I've been struggling with picking my major because I don't feel particularly motivated to do anything aside from arts (which I've been told is not a good choice because jobs in that field are unstable, etc.). I do, though, enjoy the process of creating things. Robotics is interesting to me, and I like physical arts and crafts. I also enjoy writing and game development.

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!!

how do people perform statistical analysis on speedrun worlds?

hello all! after seeing a few video essays featuring statistical analysis regarding the seeds of minecraft speedrunners, i just wanted to ask how specifically these people are able to gather data (e.g. about the probabilities of certain structures generating/mobs drops). i find it really interesting how people draw the line between 'lucky' and 'too lucky.'

any info is greatly appreciated!!!!
