Torn between 2 names for my 1830s Imperial russian novel
As my title, I am writing an Imperial russian novel set in the 1830s, yet I seem to be unable to decide some of the names for my female characters.
For my main female character, I was severely torn between Natalia and Marguerite ( Margarita ) Natalia, I like mainly due to the infleunce of War and Peace, while Marguerite gives me main character unlike Natalia with who I have imposter syndrome,
The other character I have issues with is one of the daughters of Marguerite, the names I have thought about.
Yelizaveta ( named After Marguerite's sister Elisabeth)
Yulia/Julia/ Juliette ( the one I am leaning most towards )
Elena/ Helena ( named After one of the aunts of her mother Marguerite)
I have noticed that many of the nobility used French variants of their names, as French was the primary language of the imperial court.
Marguerite has other children whose names have not caused me issues, with the exception of this.
Alexei
Viktoria / Victoire
Tatyana
Un named fc
Natalya / Natalie
Sophia / Sophie
Aglaya / Aglaé
Tsarevich Nicholas as Eugene Onegin and Grand Duchess Elizaveta as Tatyana Larina circa 1890.
7 years from then, he would be married to her sister Alix and name his 2nd daughter Tatyana. His eldest was named Olga, just like the 2 Larina sisters from Eugene onegin.
