Kalliste is now available in the VCV Rack Library – Free harmonic sequencing plugin

Hi everyone,

Following the public beta announced here a few weeks ago, Kalliste is now officially available in the VCV Rack Library.

Kalliste is a free and open-source plugin for interactive harmonic sequencing. It includes:

K-ARP — a chord sequencer combined with a visual programmable arpeggio matrix.

K-SCENE — an expander for storing complete K-ARP configurations as scenes and organizing them into longer musical sequences.

Nothing is generated randomly: chords, arpeggios and musical structure remain entirely under the user's control, and changes can be heard immediately while composing.

The Quick Start Guide has also been extensively updated, with visual reference sheets for both modules.

Kalliste is free and open source (GPL-3.0).

Thanks again to everyone who commented on the beta. Feedback is always welcome!

Kalliste – Free Harmonic Sequencer for VCV Rack (First Public Beta)

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share the first public beta of Kalliste, a free and open-source plugin for VCV Rack.

Kalliste currently includes two complementary modules: K-ARP and K-SCENE.

K-ARP and K-SCENE (plugin Kalliste)

K-ARP

K-ARP is an interactive harmonic sequencer combining a chord sequencer and a visual polyphonic arpeggio editor.

Chords and arpeggios can be created quickly through a simple visual interface, making harmonic exploration simple and intuitive while keeping the user fully in control.

Nothing is generated randomly: every chord and every arpeggio is entirely defined by the user.

K-SCENE

K-SCENE is an expander for K-ARP that lets you store, recall and organize complete harmonic scenes.

Unlike traditional scene memories, K-SCENE lets you hear a scene while you are building it before deciding to store it.

Installation

The current beta is available for Windows.

  1. Download the latest pre-release from:

https://github.com/GabTiorbi/Kalliste/releases

  1. Copy

Kalliste-2.0.0-win-x64.vcvplugin

into your VCV Rack plugin folder:

C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Rack2\plugins-win-x64

  1. Launch VCV Rack.

The plugin will be installed automatically.

A Quick Start guide is included in the release.

Feedback

I'm mainly interested in feedback about:

  • workflow and usability;
  • musical applications;
  • bug reports;
  • suggestions for improvement.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Linux users are welcome to build the plugin from source.

Thank you!
