Caught while fishing a run-off culvert for crappie. Not the first one caught out of this place this year, but the first fish I've seen come out of this area looking like this.

Fins torn to shreds and the tail bleeding... I assume something got under it's slime layer and infected it, but if so, I have no clue what, and if not, I'm at a loss for what these could be.

My brother thought maybe scars from a spawning related incident, but their spawn should have ended almost a month ago

Seems like everyone's favourite quantum entangled Nomai shares a name with a genus of vegetable. Googled it quickly and it includes tomatoes too, all from the family of Nightshade.

Considering her story, Nightshade feels fitting, somehow.
